Just arrived in Digby. Route 209 to Truro is not bad, route 1 and 101 are great, rte 215 along the coast is good and bad, just decided to switch over to rt 1. Diesel is slightly cheaper here. Weather has been fantastic....mid 60's during the day and 50's at night. Court is out on the campground we are staying at in Digby. In Advocate, or Spencers Island, we highly recommend the Old Shipyard Campground... All in all that whole area was an excellent stop. We enjoyed the tides and hiking the coast.

Gilmurr, sent another PM.

Will continue to postl some pics when download speed is a little better.

Some pics of Shippagan NB.

The lighthouse was on Miscou Island NB, just two islands from Shippagan.

We stayed at Janine du Havre Amberge Campground and it was outstanding, right on the water, full hookups and about $28 US. No problem washing the truck and trailer

At first I thought this was an Argosy, but the panels tell me otherwise...must have been about 28'.

Note: we have seen a lot of 60's and 70's AS parked at residences up here and from the exterior, they look in great shape.

Been having trouble downloading the photos. They are sized correctly. I just ask on another thread about how to post more than one photo in a single post..if you can help me out again, thanks in advance.

And yes...it is a very beautiful country.

Our campsite at Old Shipyard Campground near Advocate Harbour.

Note....watching these tides at Fundy is way better than watching paint dry! They are quick. What really surprised us is how quickly the surface under the water dries, mostly gravel like, very few "seashells". Actually enjoyed searching for sea glass.

Cape D'Or near Advocate Harbour. This is where we saw the seals...sorry no pics, they were just dots. There is a cafe that supposedly opens for the season in a week or so. Great place to view the Fundy Tides.

Hiking up at Cape D'Or Lighthouse. Not well publicized, but great trails. One led down to a beach with huge caverns

Hi John - When you click in the "Manage Attachment" button a window should pop up that will then give you (3) options for uploading:
1. will be the ability to upload up to 4-pictures from your computer
2. would be the ability to post video
3. would be the ability to direct the post to a URL location you might have images. this would only happen if you were using a photo storage site or had your own website.

I'm attaching a screenshot of what the Manage Attachments window looks like so you can see how you have (4) options for uploading images. Select the images you want and after they are selected hit the upload button. Then wait for the upload to complete and then post to the forum.

Sounds to me like your selecting an image and then hitting "upload" you want to select (all) your images first and then hit "upload"

Hope this helps

Cheers
Doug

We left Digby after only 2 nights, had planned on 4. Stayed at the Digby Campground, some may like it we did not. Jeanne went to the market and picked up some fresh Digby scallops and had a feast. Digby is a neat little town, nice light house, a few trails, but a full day plus was enough. We headed down the coast to Whale Cove and the Whale Cove Campground. We arrived about 9 AM and the owner, Tina, said no problem. We spent that day exploring the southern end of the Digby Neck and also took the ferry to Long Island. Nice little hike, essentially a nature trail with interesting vegetation, down to Balancing Rock. First leg of the trail says 238 steps, seemed more like 300. Definitely a worthwhile hike and the rock is amazing. We went to all the lighthouses and walked several of the trails around them. By 5 PM, the rain and wind started and the heavy fog came in. Fog horns were blowing all night.

Next day off to Brier Island on two separate ferry's. Again we visited lighthouses and walked their short trails. On one of them, we stumbled into a seagull nesting area...watch out, they are protective! At one of the light houses is a coast guard station and we spent an hour with one of them who offered much about the area history and great info about the Fundy Tides. We took our dog Jake with us all on these hikes except the Balancing Rock, and he really does well. We had originally planned on a whale watch tour but whether was not cooperating. On this visit to Brier Island, the weather started out windy and the seas were rough, then it all settled down right before the tour departure. They set us up with a dog sitter, and away we went. Turned out to be a beautiful day, saw lots of the Minke whales.
Will post some pics when I get them downloaded.

Note: round trip ferry is $7 to each island, round trip. They have a five trip pass for $17.50. We used them all so a good bargain

With any luck, you may meet some of the Slocum family descendants. Jim

We did not. Visited his memorial near one of the light houses and even went to the cemetery. Interesting life story.

What size have you made the photos? I use "medium" as anything larger would not transfer and I don't recall there was any explanation why not. Sometimes the photos will not transfer for a long time if the wifi is poor, or not at all, or maybe just one. Some internet companies campgrounds use (Tengo, for ex.) limit photos so much it is almost impossible to transfer them except in the middle of the night or when no one is at the campground using the system.

I've been to NB and NS three or four times and never went to see the Bay of Fundy tides. Not sure why. I have seen the tidal bore in Moncton many years ago and that was interesting, but someone told me last time we were in the vicinity that a bridge built over the river disrupted the tide so much, the tidal bore is pretty weak now. The Reversing Falls in St. John, NB, don't really reverse (I would like to see that if the falls started going up), but there's a lot of turmoil in the water as the tide comes in and covers the falls. Seems like every time I've been there I've been right on time for that. I guess "Magnetic Hill" in NB is still fooling people—I remember being there when I was a kid. It was free then (not now) and pretty far outside Moncton, though I think it is in the city limits now. Your car appears to roll up hill. It is an illusion, or is it?

SilverEagle6, thank you for the photo. It is sincerely appreciated. I have read Sailing Alone Around the World and I admire Joshua Slocum very much. Quite certain that the many sailors among us know his story well and will also be touched. If you find yourself wandering around on Mount Hanley Road after exploring along the coast as I did, you may also spot his little school house. If you are lucky enough to get to Kej, Remember, The park is one of the darkest spots on the planet so be prepared for some magical stargazing. Jim
