Jake went nuts when he saw me with the netting, but it did the trick.

Labrador

Thanks...hopefully will help future travelers, and more importantly, bring back memories for those who travelled before.

Here is a pic of L'Anse Amour lighthouse in Labrador. This was an exceptional place to visit, great museum of,the lighthouse with the attached light keepers home. I believe this is the tallest lighthouse in Canada. Also, has a nice gift shop and walking trails to,the shipwreck site of HMS Raleigh. In my opinion, if you only make one stop in Labrador, this is it.

More Red Chairs

Red chairs again, this time in Red Bay, Labrador at the Whaling Museum. Really enjoyed the filme about the discovery of the Basques whalers and their ship that sunk in the Harbour. We enjoyed a great lunch at the restaurant across the street as well browsing their super gift shop.

Probably that is the closest to a fire hydrant that Jake has seen in months.( On the road in St. John NB.)

After a great visit to Red Bay, we headed north th Mary's Harbour. At this point Rte 138 becomes gravel. Very good road, more like pea gravel, rated for 70kph. We had wanted to go to Battle Harbour, but now that it is privatized, you have to stay the night in one of their B&B's. We met several people who went over and we were told that it had lost its charm and was now too glitzy...ok by us. We headed north again towards Goose Bay just to see some scenery and soon turned around to head back to our campsite. It was a good day.

Attached picture is the gravel section of rte 138.

We took another day trip into Quebec going to the end of rte 138 west at Fort Vieux. As you enter the town there is a sign that says This was the first capital of North America....not sure what that means. Sorry but pic did not load.

Interesting that rte 138 in Labrador is pretty rough, ( good decision to drop the trailer at the Northern Lites Campground ) while the same road into Quebec going to Fort Vieux is quite good. Locals say that now that the road is open all the way through Labrador to Quebec, the haul trucks are tearing up the roads.

Note: as a senior, which is over 60, the ferry with truck, trailer, senior driver and wife was about $55 CD each way. In my opinion it is well worth the time and money. Be prepared with proper clothing for the flies, and they are not an issue. We had a really wonderful visit.

Baylito99, did not see your post until this morning. Jake really wanted to go over there.

Editors note: my wife was reviewing my recent post and pointed out to me that the sign referenced in #302, actually said "Old Fort Bay, first Capitol of North America". On the map it says Fort Vieux. We have a picture somewhere that I will try to post.

Fort Vieux is French for Old Fort, so it's all the same.

I assumed that, just surprised that particular sign was in English, as all other signs in the area are in French. I did a quick google search and did not find anything about the first capital of North America....just curious.

After we departed Labrador, we headed "down" the peninsula to St Anthony. We did just about all the things that folks on this thread suggested. Because of having such difficulty uploading photos, especially one at a time, I'm just going to post some pictures of places we went to that I do not recall being mentioned.

On the way to St Anthony, had to stop at another lighthouse, this one is Flowers Cove, which is actually on an island.

DMT, we headed down there on Tue Aug 18. Weather forecast through Fri was sunny, no rain. When we arrived at Sandbanks PP, it was sunny with haze, light winds. Wednesday is the day to go to Ramea, with several options to go over and back on the same day. Woke up to fog and by the time we loaded onto the ferry, visibility was good, low clouds. Temp was around 55f. Seas were somewhat rough. We took our truck because of Jake and also in hopes of kayaking. Seas and winds were too much for us to kayak so we spent the day hiking all the trails, visiting with folks, eating French fries. Got back to the park around 9 PM. Woke up to fog and it stayed until we left on Sunday morning. We hiked just about every trail in the area, but sadly never got in the boats. We had a great campsite off to ourselves with a local family from Burgeo in the next spot. We had wifi in the trailer with our booster.
The beaches are great and the scenery fantastic. When we come back someday, we'll take the ferry on to Gray River and then to Franchois. All in all a good trip. Once I get my pics ready, I'll post some, may be awhile.
Not to get ahead of myself too much, but we are currently camped at Robinsons and tomorrow we are renting a side by side ATV and taking a day trip out on the railway trail.

Did you have your board meeting yet?!
