I remember being at a place called Cow Head, but can't remember where it was. I recall winding, narrow streets going down to water and eating at a restaurant there. I'll have to ask my wife where it was—I guess it was in Newfoundland. I'm completely blank on where and when.

Gene, Cow Head is in NL, about 20 miles north of Rocky Harbour. Go look at post number 251, alas a little about our stay there....it was a great stop.

Jeanne and I have really enjoying the red chairs we have found in the NP's. Parks Canada places these chairs around their favorite spots throughout the parks. We did not see any of these, or simply were not aware of it when we were in western Canada last year. It is a great program and I have sat in many of them this trip.

Here we are on the top of Look Out Trail in Gros Morne.

The Red Chairs - one of our favourites. W found a pair at L"Anse aux Meadows on the little walking trail and just last week in Kluane National Park in the Yukon (Kathleen Lake). I recall seeing a pair in Jasper as well.

Cyclist, good to know they are out west...we'll look closer next time.

In my last photo, a Canadian couple took the picture. I to
D them we really enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs. She very politely told me they were not Adirondack, but rather Muskogee chairs....excuse me if misspelled.

At another set of chairs, I thanked the park ranger for the Red Muskogee Chairs, and he said they were Adirondack chairs.....whatever!

To Jeanne and I, they are now just comfortable red chairs and we look forward to spotting them. Indeed, a great concept.

If you are still in the Corner Brook area there is a decent sushi place on Broadway, if you like that sort of thing. Newfound Sushi is the name I think. If you go try the "Dory Load". The serve it in a little wooden boat.

Our three weeks on the west coast (thats local lingo for the Western part of the Island) was fantastic. Five days salmon fishing on the Humber River (got 4 nice salmon), four nights camping at Lomond in Gros Morne, 5 nights at Barachois Pond Provincial Park - lots of boating with the kids, and the odd days in between attending a family wedding and 60th birthday party for my brother. Weather was great, not too hot or cold or wet. Traded in the F150 (kids affectionately called her the "White Elephant") while I was out there for a Tundra. Agonized over 3/4 vs 1/2 ton but in the end I could not justify the additional cost for the amount of towing I do. Will need to change the stock tires to Michelin LTX AT2 Load Range E's, and I think I will add a Timbren kit to the rear. Truck weaves and bobs a bit too much for my liking.

DMT...when you were at Barchois Pond PP, did you meet the park ranger that looks and sounds kind of like Adam Sandler? And he was funny too. Maybe even funnier than Adam Sandler!!

If you tour the Port au Port Peninsula you will undoubtedly notice all the street's in Stephenville are named after American States. Stephenville was established by the construction of an American Air Force Base during WWII. My parents would tell me that Stephenville was an "overseas" posting during the war (Newfoundland was a dominion of Great Briton and not part of Canada then) and many famous persons and entertainers came there and to Corner Brook, which was the largest regional centre. My Mom went to a Louis Armstrong concert in the 50's I think, bought a record at the concert and had every member of the band sign the album booklet under their picture and bio. Album name was Ambassador Satch.

I didn't run into that guy unfortunately. Too bad as it sounds like he was a hoot. My favourite Adam Sandler movie was the one where Bob Barker punched him out on the golf course. That scene was funny.

Apologies to anyone from the UK. Should have been Great Britain obviously, even if the spell checker on this computer thinks differently.
