Tridelphia Walmart

We chose poorly, decided to park at the Triadelphia, West Virginia Walmart overnight. The sign said RV parking, we are surrounded by idling big rigs. Avoid!Click image for larger version

Big rigs are not a problem for us. We stop at truck stops often. If Rvs are allowed then trucks usually can park there also. I feel as safe or safer around trucks asi do around some of the rvs I've seen at Walmarts. Peace

Not a fan of the stink of diesel motors running or the noise and that also goes for camp grounds. I did manage once to last a couple of hours at a Flying J before I had enough and had to move on. In a perfect world the trucks would stay at truck stops and leave the walmarts for RV'ers.

Tridelphia Walmart

There is a major parking shortage for big trucks, I wont park in a busy truck stop, they need the space.... I have parked in some where I could get off by myself though.

An RV can get away with parking where trucks cant. As far as leaving the motors run, anyone who has ever tried to sleep in the cab of a truck without heating or cooling will understand why these trucks idle...

As far as the picture goes, some will buy a house at the end of a runway and then complain about all of the planes.... #JustSayin'

More of an FYI than a complaint.

In retrospect I should have left that last paragraph off of my post JukeBox.

My apologies for being curt.

They(truckers) must all have pets as the new rule is that they are not allowed to idle for comfort of humans but pets are ok.
Must be an unusual situtation, trucks don't normally congregate at Wallyworld.
Diesel idling about equal to campers deciding to have a campfire and leave smoldering all night.

Not quite,,, a campfire smoldering all night benefits no one, having air circulation and climate control in a tiny cab is kinda important for a good nights sleep.

Some cities and/or states restrict idling, some don't, fact is, the politicians who make these laws should be required to sleep in a truck for a week,,, in Miami, in August...

I have lived in both worlds and lean toward understanding the truck needs. In some cases the trucks may have just delivered or are waiting to deliver at Walmart or near by. It's often difficult to find truck parking. I've always been able to find a place to pull off with my rv. Tridelphia may be unique with that many trucks. I always try not to take a valuable truck spot in any truck stop, rest area or Walmart. It's a courtesy to them and makes my rest much better. As for idling, there are different restrictions in different areas and WV is pretty lenient. That's a high truck traffic area with limited truck parking so it's good you have given the headsup to everyone. When I needed to do 6 or 7 hundred miles in a truck, it was all business. When out with the AS, time is not so critical. Most days, there is room for all of us out there. Nice to know that when traveling I 70 to avoid that stop near Wheeling. Might try Cabelas?

We tried Cabelas. We made the mistake of asking. They said no RV parking. I was very surprised. This morning when we left Walmart we saw no RV's in the Cabelas lot. Cabelas also has a large section of their parking lot barricaded off.

Some businesses just do not want to furnish a free campground. I can understand that totally. Could be a liability issue. Jim

They also could be supporting local campgrounds. Every camper who utilizes free camping is one less camper in a paid site.
