Travelling with cat and dog

We're getting ready to leave on a 2 week trip. We have 1 cat and 1 dog. The question is where to put the litterbox so cat has free access and dog won't get into it? There is the option of leaving the cat at home and having our nephew check in on her but we'd really like to have both with us.

If the cat is smaller than the dog, why not rig a prop and bungee to hold the shower door open just enough for the cat. That will take some caution on opening the bathroom door though.

We have an airedale and an english cocker. The airedale has a wire crate under the dinette and the cocker sleeps in a crate between our twin beds. It's nice to have the security of them not getting into things if we're away -- though they're with us for 95% of what we do.

I have three locations, to keep things interesting.
1.under kitchen table
2.shower floor
3. under bed with door opened

The dog waits until I stop.
They can tell when I'm getting ready to travel, they hang out inside the Airstream as I pack.
The cat tosses his cookies about 40 miles into trip on the 1st day only, then is set for anything.
Your opinion is valued, please not your opinion of someones else's opinion.

I'm using he under bed with door opened (on my 25' International) though it's a big space for just a litter box. I've looked all over the internet for a smaller size covered litter box that would fit under the dinette or even at the foot of the bed but haven't found one. If you have, can you share the source?

my dog usually doesn't mess with the litter could always elevate the litter box somewhat to ensure the dog doesn't get to it.

We travel with 2 cats and keep the litter box under the bed at the foot. We just removed one of the storage boxes. Works great for us. In the truck I double stack so there is an upper and lower floor where we keep the litter box. It gives them some moving around room. They are great travelers and we go out for 3 months at a time.
