Sorry for the delay in providing the trip update. Following is what we did:
Was a long 12 hour drive from Austin, TX to Palo Duro Canyon (Canyon, TX). But what a difference in temperatures ... left 100's for 80's. What a nice change for cool weather! Camped at the far end of the park for 2 nights at the Mesquite Camp Area (site # 88 based upon recommendations from others and definitely was a great choice). A few photos (photos 1 - 4) of Palo Duro Canyon attached.
Headed to Santa Fe, NM. Short 4 hour drive in comparison to the Day 1 drive. Stayed in an RV park located in Santa Fe for 3 nights. Wow ... now we understand why many people comment about the difference between a gravel site and a paved site. This RV park has gravel sites and what a pain to keep gravel out of the Airstream. Santa Fe was great ... spent time at Bandelier Nat'l. Park (photos 5-7).
Headed to Albuquerque, NM. Stayed in American RV Park for 2 nights. The nicest RV park that we have ever stayed in to-date. We would highly recommend it
to anyone traveling to Albuquerque. Very clean, paved sites, nice ammenities and very nice staff. We visited Route 66 Casino one evening and had a great dinner and even won on the slots! A really great casino.
Headed to Elephant Butte Lake State Park where we stayed for 2 nights. Beautiful scenery and a really nicely maintained state park. If all state parks in New Mexico are this nice and this nicely maintained ... we plan to spend more vacations there (photos 8 - 9)!
Headed home and back to work.
