Travel to the Viking Trail

Page and I have lucked into a spot taking the Viking Trail Caravan this year.

Now the planning begins for how to meet the Caravan in Nova Scotia. Leaving from eastern VA, our preference is never to proceed up I95 through all the megalopoli between here and there. So, we will head up on a western route up I-81 to Verona NY (site of the Villages at Turning Stone.) They are already full for the 4th weekend, but I can get a couple of days and will depart there on the 4th.

Hard part will be that the trip requires travel through the July 4th period. I guess I will start looking for places in NH or VT for the first day's travel, then perhaps someplace east of Bangor for another, then perhaps NB before arriving in North Sydney.

Any other caravanners thinking along these lines? Any others who have suggestions?

We will be on that caravan as well. We have several weeks between then and the Blue Ridge caravan. We have reservations over the 4th on Lubec, Maine. Looking forward to seeing you then.

Hiya, Richard. I found a state park in NH that will serve for a couple of days, then we will head to the Kiwanis CG in St Andrews, NB. Nice campground and easy walking to a nice little village.

We will arrive in NS a day early (I hate to get backed up against a deadline).

I think most of my ducks are in a row now, as far as places to stay. If you want recommendations as to what to see after your Blue Ridge caravan, I'm pretty familiar with your Virginia options. If we didn't live in the east, you could hang with us. But I think we will be out of your path.

Thanks Pat. We are going to spend some time at Cape Hatteras and then work our way up the coast. We have some people to see along the way and several places to visit. Looking forward to seeing you
