Travel Information across mountains

We are getting ready to start our great adventure and have a few questions reguarding best roads to travel across mountain ranges from Utah to Colorado. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

From where to where--more specifics on locale would help in a reply.

There are only a few ways to get across the Rockies in Colorado and you will get above 10,000' at some point. Even I-70 can be a challenge if there is snow, and even if it's clear you need to use your transmission and not your brakes on the way down. Up is easy, but could be slow if your tow vehicle is moderate to small.

This is the site I use when traveling. Just put your mouse over the location and it will give you the weather info at once. I got this one from a flying friend of mine and have been using it ever since when I travel.

Hey Jet,
You might want to get "Mountain Directory West for Truckers, RV and Motorhome Drivers. It give pass and grade info for 11 western states.

"Best roads" is very subjective. Our 'best roads' avoid interstates and use the Scenic Byways America's Byways - Mountain Region. If weather is any concern, I use Wunderground Trip Planner Travel & Activities : Weather Underground which not only provides routing, but weather conditions along your route. Enjoy your great adventure!
