travel from Albuquerque NM to Georgia
We are traveling from the Albuquerque area to Georgia with a stop at Patoka Lake, Indiana.
We have 3 weeks to get to Atlanta and want to include Blue Ridge, perhaps Branson. Mammoth Cave maybe.
Any ideas on campgrounds and routes to take or to avoid?
Sites not to be missed?
Thanks

Is it better to go through Oklahoma or Kansas?
Never been to Kansas before.

Looks like you'll probably go thru Nashville, TN. Two Rivers Campground is located about 2 miles north of the Opry Land Hotel. Sites are close and when it rains you have standing water which drains quickly, but it is a good place to stay if you want to visit the downtown area. Monteagle Mountain is on I-24 between Nashville and Chattanooga. The grade is steep (maybe 6%) but not a long down hill...something to be aware of, but not something to avoid.
The campground at Stone Mountain (east side of Atlanta) offers some lakeside sites and plenty of activities. If interested check-out their web page.

There are several campgrounds in Branson, MO. One is Compton Ridge, which is very close to Silver Dollar City. We plan to stay there soon.

If you're traveling thru Memphis and need to stop, try the Tom Sawyer RV park in West Memphis, Arkansas. Nice place on the 'ol Miss... Last time we were there, laundry was free!

We had a over night stay at Salina, KS KOA. It was just off the interstates. Nice clean, level and fenced dog park. They also make pizza there.

I agree...if you go try for a riverfront site...great place to watch the traffic on the river...

A whole lotta I-40...
You should never see Kansas or Missouri unless you travel north intentionally-
I-40 east out of Albuquerque will take you through the Texas panhandle, the Oklahoma "pan", all the way across Arkansas, most of Tennessee to I-75 and down into Georgia-
Beautiful campgrounds and sights all along the way, but a lot of road construction-
Enjoy your trip.
Or- drop down to I-20 or I-10 and roll all the way to Georgia-
Or go one way and come home another-

I can't be of any help with your route through IN.
What fun things do you have planned for Georgia?
Can you bring some of that delicious carne adovada you have in NM? We've been craving some since our trip to NM last fall.

I just had some carne adovada for dinner! Where did you have yours?
What do recommend for fun things to do in Georgia? We'll likely check out the sights in Atlanta. Staying at Red Top for a week. Would like to check out historic sights, waterfalls and everything we can fit in in 2 weeks.
