Transport of a Globetrotter from Saginaw to St. Petersburg, FL Needed

Hi there Airstream Friends,
I live in St.Petersburg, FL and made an agreement to buy an Airstream Globetrotter located in Saginaw. I made the agreement when I thought I had secured a shipper, but due to a communication gap between us they booked additional pick-ups and could not assist me. Now I am faced with cancelling the contract or finding other cost effective way to get the GT down here safely. I am looking to my fellow Airforums members for advice or help.
I would like to pay $500 to anyone willing to pick up by GT and lovingly trailer her to St. Pete Florida. Of course shipper would be permitted to sleep in GT on the way down (however she has no heat due to someone taking out the gas lines), and in addition I am offering additional complimentary 5/4 night day stay in my home in a Historic neighborhood in St. Petersburg, FL.
Anyone interested in this venture please call me (727)798-2435 or email me at maryclaireburris@gmail.com. I can provide pictures of my sweet 1925 year built Spanish home, 2 bedroom 1 bath with fenced yard. Yes, you may bring your dog if you like. Help out a gal with her first Airstream and enjoy a mini vacation in beautiful St. Petersburg, FL. I am 10 minutes from the beach and Margarita bliss. (:

Good morning Mary, where did you find someone that will tow a trailer 1300 miles for $500? That is an extremely low price and we have to confess that it sounds really suspicious.
Just so you are aware that a professional driver has a limited hours of "diving" and "on duty" that has to be kept records while driving.
Based on that this is a 2.5 days journey for a professional driver, not considering traffic, weather, construction and accidents delays, so let's say 3 days, and with diesel prices the way they are, let's say an average 15mpg gives you about 90gallons and that is about $350.
Don't really want to discourage you, but we will like for you to be aware that no professional driver or legit company will be driving 3 days for $100. Please be aware of any "company" that will offer you such a low rate.
You may be lucky and get a transport company that has to come to FL to pick up a load and they will be running empty and that will be your lucky day.
But please also make sure that the company has a commercial cargo insurance, not liability, cargo insurance and ask for their DOT # and MC#.
It will be nice if a member has to drive down this way and do you this favor, but then you will have to insure your trailer before "just in case"
Again, is not our intention to discourage you but to help you be aware.
Best of luck

Ive had both my trailers towed from out of state to CA. I got both bids via uship.com. You might try there.

Be careful.....I have a bad feeling about who you will dig up with an open offer like this. How about a "Winter Visitor" coming to FLA anyway?

It was a very low price but it was thru a shipper I found on Uship and have already used. They were able to quote me such a low bid because they already had other booked pick ups and deliveries on the same route..so in essence with muliple pick ups and deliveries a shipper can split the fuel cost to provide customers with lower prices. Unfortunatley I did not communicate to them in enough time to book my pick up and they went ahead and booked additional pick ups...and would have been running behind if they would have added mine. Big loss for me. But they are a licensed and bonded legitimate company.

Great Idea Melody.
I just figured Airstream owners are like Harley Davidson owners or like Marines, there for one another even if we are total strangers. Maybe I am a bit naieve, but all of my experiences with all of the above have positive ones. I would trust a fellow Airstream owner to trailer an Airstream and thought perhaps someone in Michigan may like to enjoy some Florida Sun and Fun!! A win/win!!
