If you want the scenic route take 321 out of Townsend to 441 toward Pigeon Forge.Take 441 over the top of the Smokies thru Cherokee and stay on that all the way to Clayton Ga.When you go thru Dillard Ga. stop at the dillard house restaurant and eat. The best home cooking anywhere. Clayton is another really cool little town. Check out Goats on the Roof in Tiger Ga.According to the map it looks like you are only about 30 miles from Helen Ga.when you get to Clayton. Can't tell what the road is like from Clayton I have never been there

You will be fine up across the smokies just take your time and enjoy the sights. Mady you will get very lucky this morning and have a bear sighting. If you do trafic will back up very quickly. Also when you get off the mountain almost to Cherokee NC look for elk.Last couple of times I have been through there got to see them. .

FORTUNATELY for Tiger GA, the employes, and all the great visitors nobody told them they were closed. Goats On The Roof is alive and well. Summer hours are 10-6 and their number is 706-782-2784. Hope you get this info it is really a fun place especially if you have kids.
