Question Tow Vehicle Question

My husband and I are considering purchasing a 65 Globetrotter. The trailer's weight is 2980 lbs. We need to know whether our current vehicles will tow the Globetrotter and were hoping that someone out there could help us. We have 1999 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner 6 cylinder, automatic and a 2001 Isuzu Trooper 6 cylinder automatic with 4-wheel drive. Please advise.

Tow capacity

I suggest checking the manufacturers tow rating for these vehicles.

I towed my '65 globetrotter with a V6 4Runner. It has a 5,000 lb. tow capacity. The times I towed it I did fine. Up and down 4,400 ft. mountain pass a number of times. I just took it easy and didn't go too fast at any time.
After a year of reading posts on this forum, I began to get the feeling that under ideal conditions, the 4Runner would do just fine.

I have been fortunate enough to not have strong crosswinds, semi's blowing by, very long periods of mountain climbs or descents, or any type of incliment weather to deal with so far.

I'm planning a cross country trip this winter and wanted the extra safety of a heavier vehicle, better breaking capabilities, and the larger engine. I bought a Chevy Tahoe Z71 two months ago. I can't tell you the piece of mind I feel with this vehicle.

Your final decision may rest on the type of driving you plan on.
