Topsail Tram to Beach
so 1.5 weeks and we will be in topsail for 7 days WOOHOOOO. Our first week long trip in the AS and first real vacation in 1.5 years....we need some relaxation..well as much as you can get with 2 small children anyway.
Question:
How frequently does that truck with the passenger trailer shuttle folks to the beach through the days there? Is it constant that he is going back and forth?
I am planning on borrowing my brothers tow behind bike thing to pull my 2 kids around for bike rids, and so we could do that to the beach, but would need me to buy something else to pull behind us for the beach stuff for person not towing kids...
My hope is, is that I will NOT do this as it just sounds clunky and rely on that shuttle....
Any feedback on it? Of course we can always just make the walk and enjoy that, but just wondering and getting itchy to do this.

The beach is about 1/2 mile away from the sites (depending on which one you are in). The web site touts "timely shuttle" service which was every two hours in mid-winter. You might want to call the park to find out if May runs happen on a shorter cycle.

Please don't quote us on this, but we're thinking the tram ran every 1/2 hr. Not meaning to frighten anyone, but one time we were there riding the tram, a bobcat ran across the trail to the beach in front of the tram. I'm thinking of your children.

Most of the kids I've known (or been ) would think a bobcat running across the trail was cool.
Unless you're saying the driver of the tram panic-stopped and hurt riders…

Every half hour would be great
I asked iggywalker and they told me they think it was at the top of every hour from 9-6 and that rangers are ok with leaving beach umbrella and chairs during this time frame

I think the shuttle runs every 15-20 minutes until a certain time in the evening. If you miss the last one, you walk back. The beach is a fairly short walk from the campground. There are a couple lakes accessible only by walking or riding a bicycle. We walked to the closer lake. This is where the park's canoe/kayak rentals are. You pay your money at the park store, then walk or ride a bicycle to the lake.

Confirmed - every hour at the top of the hour
We however have been enjoying the short bike ride using the bike trailer we bought (and borrowed my brothers and so one as a mule and other carries kids
Raining today but has been great weather and will for rest if week - I think

No bobcats seen yet - my 3 year old would be elated - assuming no violent attack
