Anywhere I go...

I use Google Maps and turn on the "bicycling" mode, shows all kinds of stuff. I used it out in Iowa City and discovered a dedicated bike path that ran from my hotel to the mall and back out to the smaller town that had one of my favorite pubs in it, it was a bit off the main roads and was a well kept secret.

This past week we camped with full hookups at the Kerrville City Park, Kerrville, TX. This was a state park until 4 years ago. I rode my bike 100 miles and Kate rode 62 miles in the hills around Kerrville over three days. This area is very bike friendly and attracts numerous events every year. Kerrville has a population of about 22000 and has a river flowing through town. Kate and I were participating in the Easter Hill Country Bicycle Tour which we have been riding in for over 17 years.

Michigan has excellent bike trails. My favorite is the Kal-Haven trail from South Haven to Kalamazoo is 33 miles of great rail to trail. Up north along Lake superior is in Marquette. About 10 miles along the lake and into Presque Isle is superb. Great camping up there too and you can boondock a lot of places.

In my opinion, the 60 mile Pine Creek Trail in northcentral PA, is hard to beat.

See: Pine Creek Trail Pennsylvania Biking PA Rail Trails Ansonia Pennsylvania Pine Creek Trail Bike Waterville Pennsylvania Bike Trails PA

There are many camping opportunities at hand, the scenery is about as nice as it gets in the east, and there are many other things to see and do, including hiking, fishing (some of the best trout streams in PA), wildlife galore, canoeing/kayaking/rafting, etc.
