To Charleston, SC from I95 South

I discovered this route because I go up to I95 from Charleston regularly. It is absolutely the best drive and is actually a shortcut..

I95 south approaching Florence, SC, just as you cross the Great Pee Dee river, take the next exit (Pilot store sign visible). Take a left. Stay on this road it takes you around Florence going south. This road turns into Hwy 301. On the south side of Florence 301 takes a left at a stop light. Take the left. You will be on Hwy 52/301 drops off to the right later on.. Stay on 52. Once you get away from Florence, it is 52 all the way to Moncks Corner. You go through a couple of small towns (Kingstree and Lake City), but for the most part it is a straight shot 5 lane highway out in the middle of nowhere.

Just before you get to Moncks Corner (before you cross the Tail Race Canal, there is a left turn at a stop light.. hwy 402. Take the left. You have entered Francis Marion National Forest. 20 miles on 402 through Francis Marion, you get to Hwy 41 at Huger (home sweet home). Still no traffic. A right on 41 takes you right into Mount Pleasant, SC.

It is a nice, stress free drive..
