tire pressure monitoring

Recently I purchased the Pressure Pro monitoring system and like it very much but for one thing. I cannot find a dashboard mount for it. Does anyone have a suggestion? Their visor clip will not work for me and I don't want to make any holes in the dash.

Did yours come with suction cups? Ours did...they fit on the clips...if you didn't get them you can probably order them. Since the rear view mirror isn't really functional while towing, we attach the monitor to the face of the rear view mirror with the two suction cups...then take it down when we reach our destination... We can still see enough in the mirror to know the AS is still there! This works very well for us...

I velcroed mine in the back window of the truck. I can see it from the rear view mirror. This also allowed the antena to be closer to the trailer.

If I recall, it's illegal to mount things to your windshield in California.

For convenience, I bought one of these (not same brand) and used the suction cup mount that came with my gps. I drilled a hole thru the pivot of the gps mount and wired the pressure pro monitor to it. I then glued the suction cup moun to the bean bag holder. It works pretty well.

The California law has been changed for many things including GPS: V C Section 26708 Material Obstructing or Reducing Driver x2019 s View

Since I have my Doran 360 monitor located in the wrong place, looks like I'll never go to California again. And Minnesota and NJ may have laws prohibiting windshield mounts, or used to.

The locations permitted in Cal. are pretty hard to get a wire to, or if you have a sloping windshield couldn't work at all. GPS is specifically referred to in the Cal. law, so radar detectors and TPMS monitors wouldn't be permitted.

If you follow the law, and can't mount it on your dashboard (the mount won't stick to my dashboard), then I suppose you have to mount it somewhere you have a hard time seeing it so you'll have to take your eyes off the road. The permitted locations in Cal. are in either the right or law lower corners of the windshield where you'll be looking away from the highway.

I don't know what your TV is, but ours is a 2009 F150. At the top of the radio stack is an opening/shelf. I cut a piece of wood to fit in there, and added velcro strips to the front of the wood and the back of the Pressure Pro monitor. It works great!

Our Silverado has the same opening in the radio stack and that worked great for us. Recently and in order to free up some room in the storage tray just below, I mounted ours a bit higher on the radio stack using Velcro. Works great there as well.

jfowler218.......I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD and used an open space on the dash to mount my monitor. Not sure if this would work on your vintage tow vehicle.

Similar idea. I mounted a removable aluminum bracket in the opening below the radio. First a U shaped aluminum piece riveted inside the opening. Then a bracket that slides in between the aluminum and the plastic, and the Pressure Pro is velcroed to the bracket.

Easy to remove when not trailering.

there are DOZENS of cell phone, gps, blackberry, i pod sized, generic HOLDERS...

that attach to the 12v PLUG, dash air vent, cupholders or 'tacky' to the dash...

there are also sticky 'pouches' that use the suction cup mounts without attaching to the window glass.

some have goosenecks or flex tubes and other don't.

search 'cell phone/gps mounts' or visit a bestbuy, wal/target discount store or radio shack...

i've seen perhaps 20 that would work fine in this application.

typically 25-40$.

I bought two mounts that hang on the louvers of the air vents on the dash and clamp onto the top and bottom edges of whatever is mounted. There is actually a hole for the andtenna on the TPS. I use one mount for the TPS, the other for a big 7" diagonal Magellan GPS. The mounts have hooked fingers that go between the louvers and hook on the rear edges. I haven't found that the mounts appreciably interfere with air flow since they stand off enough. They actually keep the vents from blowing right in my face. The mounts also do not restrict access to the radio or other controls.

I bought my mounts at Cabellas, though I have seen them in Target, as well. About $20.

Hard to get good shots with a flash inside the truck, but here are some images of my setup.

• One shot from the back seat is with only the TPS mounted and the GPS mount empty.
• A second shot is with both GPS and TPS mounted.
• The 3rd shot is of an empty mount. There is a hole in the top jaw that accepts the antenna on the TPS.

To mount something, just place it in the jaws and squeeze the psdded jaws. The button hanging down at the left of the mount releases the jaws when pressed, making it easy to remove the GPS/TPS from the mount.

I have a 2-socket cigarette-lighter adapter in the console and I have drilled a hole in the side of the console, out of sight. Both power cords are plugged in there and run hidden under the console as much as possible up to the dashboard. I have a little cable clamp there to keep the cords neat and handy.

When I park, I usually remove both instruments and hide them under the pad on the console that our cat rides on. Makes it a little less obvious to a thief.

I should have mentioned that there is a support leg on the back of the mount. It worked fine for the TPS, but it out the big GPS at a bad angle that reflected too much glare. I simply removed the support leg from the GPS mount and the angle came out just right.

BTW, the 7" Magellan works great in the truck. I always found previous smaller GPS units difficult to read at the distance from my eyes that they had to be mounted. The 7" unit not only has enough volume to be heard easily over the diesel, it is much more readable.

Cosmotini - Wouldn't a good old large'ish "bean bag", like draftsmen used to use to hold down paperwork work perfectly?? Do they still sell those "bean bags" & if so, what kind of store would stock them?

My GPS suction cup doesn't want to "suck" & stay anymore, that and I'm shopping around for a good tire monitoring system, so I need a good dashboard solution for both.

I went to the "Pressure Pro" sight to take a look as I really would love to have them. Which unit or whatever do most folks get? Besides the motorcycle it seems that one starts with the 6 wheel?...........Do you then mount them on the TV????......Thanks...Dennis
