Wow, Paula, those are some excellent suggestions. Why do I feel like getting her the apron would be the only thing that would fly?

Trade in the Airstream for one of these. Man in front; woman in back. Better yet, woman in front; man in back so wife can stop where and when she darn well pleases.

Case closed.

Sign her up for a lobotomy. Getting her to the OR may be a challenge.

I was traveling on business with a fussy woman co-worker, and somehow I unfairly ended up doing all the driving. So, when she said she was going to take a nap, I replied that it sounded like a good idea, and I'd take one as well. I then proceeded to close my right eye, and drove using just the vision in my left eye for about ten miles, being very careful never to look at her or otherwise let her know that I had one eye still open. Though I kept it between the white lines and within the speed limit and never had a problem, she was so scared out of her wits that she finally shook my shoulder to wake me up, and insisted on driving the rest of the way.

Not only has she never shared a vehicle with me ever since, she hasn't spoken to me, either.

I don't understand why she had a problem. Here in the Big Easy, where drinking and driving is so endemic that they have drive-through daiquiri shops (really!), everyone knows that you can't get double vision if you drive with one eye closed, no matter how much you've had to drink. Since I was stony sober when I tried this, it was no problem at all!

If you really want to get it done, just say something so off the wall that she gets really upset at you. Silent treatment. Works every time.

My brother had the solution though it came at the expense of a brain tumor. When they took out the brain tumor, unfortunately he was deaf in his right ear, which was expected. One afternoon he was on a long drive from Illinois to Tennessee and I happened to call. He explained that he and his girlfriend had been on the road for several hours and he was all talked out. He simply rolled the drivers window down and the wind noise kept him from hearing anything in his good left ear. He said he would just nod occasionally and all was well for the rest of the trip home.

I don't understand why she's riding in the truck? Doesn't she normally ride in the Trailer?

She just needs to get some new Matthew McConaughey movies to keep her occupied back there.

As we said in my previous life...."SIT DOWN. STRAP IN, SHUT UP AND HOLD ON." It worked OK then.

Lightbulb

I had some real good luck recently. We found ourselves camping at one of those huge WalMart complexes and, like a good citizen, I decided to buy a cup of java in one of the stores before heading on out. While standing in line, I noticed a book called "50 Shades of Grey" and thought, DW has been whining so much about the "patina" on our trailer that I'll get her the book as a belated birthday present so she can learn how to polish it properly. I don't need any scratches you know. Well, let me tell you, that was one of the best purchases I've made all year! YMMV
