this is nuts..

..and I sorta wish Wally Byam was still around, since upon reading this, he would have shouted, "But I already did that back in[whenever]' or he would have jumped up, shouted out to his wife,"Load up the Airstream, we're on our way." It sounds right up his alley, in other words

The Pan-American highway. Pan-American Highway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The length of the Pan-American highway..the whole freaking thing. Can you imagine you and your AS going from Prudehoe Bay in Alaska, inside the Arctic Circle, on the shores of the Arctic Ocean, all the down through two continents, to Tierra del Fuego on the tip of Argentina? Man what a trip that would be!

There is a bridge over the Panama Canal, so that problem is dealt with, but there is also a rain forest filled gap with no roads, the Darien Gap. which apparently has been crossed by 4x4's but no roads, Darién Gap - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia though there is talk of a ferry running from Panama into Columbia.

Doesn't this trip sound made to order for a Wally Byam Caravan?
