The Reason I Bought My New Airstream

OK, so SilverLeaf was born at JC in October 2011. Right now I am parked 20 feet from a mountain creek near West Sedona, AZ. I have been gone from home for 3 1/2 weeks. Just my trailer, my basset hound, and me. I will wend my way back to NC on Monday. Some musings: I knew I'd enjoy a trip with uncertain timelines and unclear destinations. Little did I know how much. The fun each evening to decide where to go next, or whether to stay longer was truly amazing fun. I did visit wonderful friends in LA and TX. My Texas friends suggested Big Bend National Park. I went. I saw. I was amazed! Absolutely beautiful....camped in the Rio Grande Campground. No hookups. (Was glad for the two Honda 2000's as it did get to 95 one afternoon!) The morning were cool enough to need the heat. Some very interesting comments. One guy comes up to me and said, "how many slides you got in that thing?" I said, "none." He looked at me with widened eyes and I said, "my trailer is for traveling, not sitting in a park somewhere for a summer." One other thought. I cannot believe how few Airstreams I've seen over almost 4,000 miles. Just a handful. I did meet a couple in AZ who have been fulltiming in a 25 foot Safari for 6 years. He looked at my new trailer with an envious gleam. Oh, and BTW, not a single issue with SilverLeaf, ProPride hitch or anything. Next trip, Alumapalooza, then to upstate NY and onward to Nova Scotia in June. See 'ya on the road (I hope).

I'm sure you'll find that 4 weeks just isn't long enough. I know I always feel like each trip is too short.
Take lots of pictures! Enjoy!

Bab, very cool. You are a true Streamer. I look forward to meeting you out here at a western rally one day.

We were there earlier this month (see my other post about Chisos Campground) and had the same reaction as you. Only downside, a long drive from our home in Louisiana. But without a doubt a beautiful place to stay. We have camped in Cottonwood (an earlier visit) and Chisos (the visit this month).

We will see you at Alumapalooza.

Alas, we are not full-time. We have been away from home for about 6 weeks but headed home after next week. I want to sell it all, leave the land of taxes that is MARYLAND, USA and travel until I can no longer. Husband is not yet ready to give up yard work, (ha) our boat or his family and friends.

Oh well, I won't give up.

Happy trailering!

Imelda

Live from the Terraport

Barry, we'll see you Tuesday. Drive careful, there seems to be a cop with a radar gun every 50 feet on the highway.
