Thanks for the kind words Janie and Mike. I see the "views" count keeps going up so I figure somebody is looking or a lot of people are clicking by mistake.

Anyway we cruised through Rochester today and followed the Erie Canal across the state. The Canal by the way is 363 miles long connecting the Hudson River at Albany with Lake Erie at Buffalo. The change in elevation is 570' and required going through 83 locks to make the trip. Today the trip requires 35 locks. The maximum boat depth is 12' and the maximum height above the water line is 15'. The 83 locks may have included some connecting canals. The literature we have is a bit confusing. There are also 15 lift bridges across the canal.

It rained all day today so our only exploring was Fort Oswego. We are camped on the south side of Lake Oneida near Sylvan Beach. It seems to have stopped raining for now. This has been the coolest day since we left home, the first day we didn't run the a/c all day. Also we bought the most expensive diesel so far, $4.11. The highest we have seen is $4.33. The lowest was in Idaho at $3.54.

The connection here is so slow I can't upload pics, I'll try tomorrow.

Cheers, Dan

Hi Dan,

Cant believe how far you have traveled! What a great trip for the stream..
We bought diesel for $5.39 a gallon today and was happy to have it.. ugh. So far the most expensive diesel I have ever paid for. Keep the photos coming and travel safe.

Vinnie

Hi, Dan. You have been really traveling. And we both paid the highest prices for fuel at almost the same time. Dusty is jealous about Hagar being allowed to go with you. Dusty had to stay home, in the Airstream, or have a dog sitter. Hagar has his own town and we have been down many dusty roads so far. I have had to use my Blue Lock Tight a few more times. The gravel and wash board roads are trying to shake everything to pieces. If this keeps up, I'll have to use some of my Blue Lock tight on my teeth.

Hi Everyone, I got side tracked a bit and I'll explain in a minute.

Vinnie, I guess Calif must be getting pretty bad if you are paying $5,39 gal. Bob, I know Canada is pretty tough but I guess that's life unless you can carry a really big tank. Yes Hagar was very lucky going on the tour and I was even more lucky that I didn't have to buy him a ticket.

Speaking of traveling far after Fort Oswego we had dinner in Mexico, the town not the country. The next day we drove through Russia, Greece, Amsterdam, Norway and Poland. All cities in upstate New York. We stayed in a little park in Pittsfield in Mass. and then headed for my cousin's place in Sandy Hook, Ct. We then we got there he was packing to go to a car show in Macungie, Pa. Of coarse after a bit of arm twisting we were on or way. My cousin took his 1950 Buick Woody Wagon and we followed. About half way there we turned left in the little town of Milford and about 3 cars back in the traffic coming the other way was an Airstream Legacy. I almost fell off my chair. We both gave a shocked wave and continued on. Anyway on to Macungie and a late dinner and catching up.

The car show was great, about 1300 cars 25 or more years old and no trailers. Every car had to be original, no hot rods, street machines, customs or modified. Every car had to drive through the main gate under it's own power. A great show and swap meet.

For now we are in a small park in Milford, Pa. on the way back to Conn. and it's pouring down rain and I'm bushed so I'll catch up with more info and pics as soon as I can.

Cheers, Dan

Hey Dan
We wanted to come to New Y in Sept but Hx1 has serious deadlines for
his work that very week..and I don't fancy coming without him
Have you any snaps of NY ??
Where are you now ? ..oh ..theres fire engines roaring by..must be on their way to the city..
I would love to see Niagra Falls by the way..I just typed Viagra instead of Niagra.. I dont know how to spell Niagra..
oh oh..there goes more fire engines..
We had a little windfall so I have the money for the extension and were selling our Landrover..
wont get much for that though ..Hx1 is coming home to take out the hedge so we can get machinery up our mouse sized garden path..I want to visit the Field of Dreams..in Somerset..For all to see is a glorious display of beautiful wild and cultivated flowers.Hx2 is staying in his girlfriends families Cottage in the area..I wish I could go..can't imagine they want me there.. 2's company threes a don't want me muvver around ..
With my little windfall i'm going to set aside a chunk for a Leica Digital for Hans jnr..he is taking some fantastic photographs recently..but the developing at £5 English Pounds a film is crippling..nearly as bad as fuel
Hx2 is a lot better so I have a spring in my step this morning..Cheerios

Here we are at the car show in Macungie, Pa. I think Hagar got more attention than the cars.

A gathering of Metropolitans
Hagar waiting in line for some ice cream

Since arrival at my cousin Bob's place he has done his best to destroy our recent atempt at weight loss. He beleives in living and eating well.
While at Bob's place I decided to take advantage of a few free moments and bought and installed a second MaxxAir fan. I also modified and mounted the street side awning rail that I was unable to get at the Airstream factory.

The old vent
Me hard at work
Me drilling about 40 potential new leaks
Me attempting to plug those leask with a rail and rivets
Hagar getting some exercise in Bob's front yard
Bob's House
New Airstream sign on the fanny pack

By the way Mike we have not seen another classic moho since we left home.

Now I'll warn you that I'm about to post some family pics so you might want to look away for a few minutes.

The flock, flamingos that is (Got ya)
Dinner the night before
Hagar and the new guy
The first cousins and spouses, you can see we are a well fed Italian family
The clan, notice the little guy in the upper right, yes he is that big 6'8" and about 450
My brother and sis

Cheers, Dan
