Here is a tractor launching a boat near mouth of the Anchor River. You can see they do get wet.

This is Rascal enjoying his complimentary bowl of ice cream. The lady explained that her father was a vet for 40 years and he believed it was fine to give a dog vanilla ice cream. When he opened this ice cream shop he insisted that every dog would get a free bowl of vanilla. He died many years ago but she was still keeping her dad's wishes.

I love this collection box. They ask for $2 to dump and get fresh water at this city facility. I mean this thing has brass wheels, dual A/C, a spare tire and a satellite antenna.

You have to be a resident for a year to get a permit. The permit allows you 25 salmon plus 10 more for each family member. the season opens for a month.

Basically you stand there with this 5 foot net on the end of a 10 to 15 foot pole and wait for a fish to swim into it. This is midweek and you can see the place is pretty busy.

If you don't have 4 wheel drive you camp back by the gravel road and walk through the deep sand or if you are lucky you have an ATV.

Thumbs up

Thanks for sharing these great pictures of your trip - it sure is nice to follow along. Congratulations on catching the giant halibut and on the successful hot water heater replacement.

I'm not sure exactly what is happening and I ask a couple of locals who didn't really know, but as we went north through Nikiski there are heavy equipment yards everywhere. With that much equipment somebody must be getting ready to do some work.

Hi, we camped in the camp ground behind/next to the Russian Church for two nights and watched the dip net fishing from there.
