This one we got to watch them load a dozer. They stopped traffic in both directions. Then we got to follow him down the highway for the next 10 miles.

We didn't spend much time in Whitehorse because of the ferry schedule from Skagway to Haines.

Here I am with Rascal checking out the caribou at Carcrossing.

Dan, how is the diesel running? Does altitude have any effect on its performance like it does with gassers?

Gorgeous scenery. Whats Rascal think of those bear?

It seems happy, I hear all the marbles rattling around down there. I think the pump is a little rich as it puffs some black smoke under load but it always does that. I just take it easy and keep the boost at about 5 lb. psi. and keep an eye on the exhaust temp. I have lots of throttle left so it should be happy. Even at full throttle you don't gain much power so I don't see any point in stressing the engine. For those wondering it is a low pressure after market turbo and I have never seen more than about 8 lbs. at full throttle on the gauge. Altitude doesn't seem to have much effect.

The scenery is absolutely gorgeous. The pics just don't do it justice.

Rascal pretty much ignores the bears when we stop on the highway but the other morning at Lake Kilkoot something spooked him and it took both of us to push him out the door for his morning potty. Never saw anything but he sure smelled something. Only time that has happened.

Hi, Dan; I think that is one of the mosquitos that bit me while there. When we get moved, I'll have to meet Dennis. Looks like he has my future truck.

Yeah those skeeters. We were in this very nice park along a stream last night and it was great except for the mosquitoes. Irene cooked up some steaks last night and you could see about 50 of them swarming around the stove vent. This morning I think I shut about a dozen of them in the storage bay with the electric cord.

Anyway we left Tok and headed south to Glennallen. I booked a king salmon charter on the Copper River for next week so while we are waiting we drove down to Valdez for a couple of days. An absolutely stunning drive over the Thomson Pass on the Richardson Hwy.

Bob, Dennis had sign on the side of his truck. He deals in parts for Porsche, Audi and BMW so he should be easy to locate in Salem.

I will try an update. We spent a couple of days in Valdez. It is a small town on a quiet protected cove completely surrounded by snow capped mountains. It would be difficult to find a more picturesque setting. Years ago you could tour the oil pipeline terminal and the cruise ships visited the town. Since 9-11 no more tours so no more cruise ships and most of the tourist activities have died away. The biggest thing now is fishing.

We left Valdez and headed back to Copper Center. We had a nice space on the edge of the Klutina River. My King Salmon charter rained the entire day. We tried but just no luck. It was so bad the guide offered to take me out again for free. We waited two days and tried again but the river was up and very muddy, no fish. As they say, The worst day fishing is still better than the best day at work. The rain also created an interesting muddy situation at the camp ground.

Anyway we headed to Anchorage. Our water heater had been "fussy" and we got tired of dealing with it so I had found a replacement in Anchorage and also a new transfer switch. Many dollars later we had a new gas and electric water heater in this large box in the middle of the floor.

That night we stayed in a park in town with lots of rules, terrible Wi-Fi and it seemed like every rental motorhome in the state. It was right next to the tracks and under the airport runway. Not a nice place. We moved to a city park about 4 miles away and it is very nice in the trees with a site big enough for three mohos and decent Wi-Fi. I don't know if I can load a picture yet but I will try.

Anyway we installed the water heater yesterday. The installation was routine but we had to run wires for the AC. That was less than fun but found everything I needed at the local Home depot and finished the install and surprise, surprise we have hot water. Today I may attack the transfer switch or I may just take the day off. At least the weather is nice.
