Hi, Dan; All I remember was gravel, gravel, and more gravel on our way up and we left home on July first. On the way back in August, the roads were like brand new. You leaving a month before us, you'll have to tell us what the roads are like now. I have a nice rock chip in my Lincoln's windshield, I have a spider crack in my Safari's rock guard, and various rock dings all over the front of my trailer, but we had a great time. The gravel ate up my Lincoln tires and we stopped in Montana for a new set to get home with. Rascal looks like he's enjoying the trip too.

Good to hear from you. Rascal is adorable I love those long legs, reminds me of a moose. Just kidding Rascal, you are much better looking. Don't know if you are keeping up with our blog, but we are in Fairbanks. Many skeeters and can't sit outside. I thought the skeeters started up a little later. Safe travels, we might cross paths along the way.

So glad to hear the Hagarstream rides again!

Rascal is unbelievably beautiful! Those eyes! That delicious pink nose! That massive body absorbing that entire couch! :-)

I hope that pic (and many other of Rascal) make their way to the "What Our Pets Think" thread...I can only imagine :-)

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Keep those pics coming, glad things are going well. Hopefully, Rascal will come south with a more mature nature!

We had a great site at Meziadin Lake but we had to share with way too many mosquitos.

They are building power highline towers for probably 75 miles or more along the Cassiar Hwy. The road is in pretty good shape only a couple of hundred yards of gravel but it is a bit rough with pot holes around Drease Lake. They have cleared the right of way for the power lines so lots of log and slash piles and construction equipment and workers everywhere. We stayed at Boya Lake, a beautiful spot but dry camping only. We passed a southbound Airstream just as we were pulling into the campground.

This connection won't let me load any more pictures.

Hi All, trying to get an update in while the connection lasts. They monitor your use and when you hit the limit they cut you off. Anyway we made it to the Alaskan Hwy and stopped at Watson lake for a few supplies and headed toward Whitehorse. Saw 2 grizzly bears along the side of the road and got some decent pics, will try to post later. stopped at a small place for fuel and their pump broke. They wound up drawing fuel from the tank with a 12 volt pump and filled 5 gal. cans which we carried to fill the coach. Sometimes you do what you gotta do. Anyway made it to Whitehorse and couldn't decide about going to Skagway or Haines or both. Called the ferry and there was a ferry that night at 12:15 AM from Skagway to Haines so we headed to Skagway then ferry to Haines and back to the Alaskan Hwy.

Stopped at Carcross to let about a dozen tour buses ooh and ah at Rascal. Proceeded to Skagway, got pics of a curious brown bear and found 4 cruise ships in the harbor. Trying to walk around town while Rascal had a great pet-fest, we were standing in a crowd of people somebody says "You must be Irene." It turns out it was Ed and Eileen who had seen our posts on the Airforums. Talk about a surprise. Turns out they had their ferry canceled and were on the same ferry as we were scheduled. They had seen the moho parked and when they saw Rascal they said it must be.

Anyway we visited on the ferry and camped together on a roadside pullout near Haines. Next day we had a nice visit and they headed to Lake Chilkook while we went into town. Ran into Ed and Eileen at the visitor center telling us about their Million Dollar view at the lake. We spent the night in town and got some fishing lures and a license and headed to the lake the next morning. I caught 3 Dolly Varden for dinner and the next day I got a 27" Sockeye salmon on a 2 to 6 lb. ultra light spinning rod. It was quite a fight and we really have been feasting on salmon for the last 2 nights. I got 2 more Dolly Varden that afternoon. we spent the night and headed into town because the fridge is full of fish.

Hi, Dan great picture; When traveling and trying to post pictures, I usually reduce them to 50% and some times as low as 25%. If that doesn't work then there will be no pictures until later.

I forgot to mention as I had my second Dolly Varden on the line I heard a whoosh over my head and about 10' up was a Bald Eagle taking a run at my fish. About that time the fish took a dive and the eagle did a fly by and went away hungry. He landed in a tree across the river and watched me for quite awhile but finally gave up.

We left Haines today and made it to Destruction Bay on the Kluane Lake which is the largest lake in the Yukon. We are in a gravel lot across from the lake which is not real scenic but the wind is blowing pretty good and it blew up a bit of a dust storm approaching the lake.

About 9 kilometers before the bay we did come across this bad boy.

It may be hard to tell but this guy is quite a bit bigger than the bears we have seen so far. He is a quite regal grizzly.
