Thanks Fly, I just keep babbling on hoping somebody finds some enjoyment in sharing our adventure.

When we get back on the left coast maybe we'll cross paths. We are really not too far from you.

Cheers, Dan

Leaving Hershey we headed toward a bit of history, Gettysburg. On the way however we passed through another must stop at York, Pa.

The Harley Davidson Factory. As an old Harley rider there are some things you just have to do. They have a very nice factory tour and Irene was dreaming about a new ride.

I guess it will have to go on the wish list for awhile.

Back to reality we headed to Gettysburg. This is another stop that brings home the true meaning of being an American.

The Fighting at Gettysburg involved 163,000 men fighting for three days. At the end there were 52,000 casualties (killed, wounded, captured and missing). A major event in American History.

Saturday we drove the Skyline Drive and the first 100 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. It is more than words can describe so I'll just post a few pictures.

I will say the pavement on the Skyline Drive was absolutely perfect. I did not see a single pothole the entire 106 miles. It was very smooth like it was just paved last week. The Blue Ridge Parkway was also very nice but it was older pavement and did show a little wear in spots

We did adopt this little bear at one of the shops.

We were told that no bear was allowed to leave until it got a Good bye hug from Betty. We waited as Betty came from the office to bid farewell to our little Shannon.

Cheers, Dan

This is day two of the Blue Ridge Parkway from about mile posts 100 to 300. Two hundred miles is a good days drive and a good workout on this highway. Nothing is straight or level.

Hi, Dan. Are you ever going to go home? We are going home for the second time since you started your journey. Maybe you have become full timers and haven't realized it. Great stories and pictures.

Thanks Vinnie, just remember Irene takes all the pictures. Also I'm color blind so I hope the pics posted look decent, it's a lot of guessing on my part.

Come on Bob, you and Lee are the ones with the Random Trip. We just got a little more random or maybe it's lost, I'm not really sure.

That completes about 570 miles of the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. You can see we hit the colors at a pretty good time. It was really not a problem at all driving the old moho on these roads and I highly recommend taking the time if you are in the area.

Cheers, Dan

We had a video cam set up onthe dashboard for about 45 minutes this spring. Unfortunately, un-be-knownst to me, it was set for black and white. Nice video, but . . . Sal.

Thanks Fly at Night. Again Irene takes the pics but I'll pass the word on to her.
Noreen I understand, half of the time I get a picture of my finger with our little digital camera. I hear it will take video but I haven't a clue how.

Back to our adventure. We spent the night in a campground in Cherokee and in the morning Irene decided she had not seen enough of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park so we headed bank into it, up and over the top and down into Gatlinburg.

This we think is Kudzu that just kind of over grows whatever it gets near.

Gatlinburg was an amazingly busy commercial tourist area. Lots of shops, amusement parks, and shows to spend your tourist dollars. Pigeon Forge, the home of Dolly Parton was the same with maybe even more places to spend your money.
