Hi, Dan. Are you ever going to go home? We are going home for the second time since you started your journey. Maybe you have become full timers and haven't realized it. Great stories and pictures.

Thanks Vinnie, just remember Irene takes all the pictures. Also I'm color blind so I hope the pics posted look decent, it's a lot of guessing on my part.
Cheers, Dan

Come on Bob, you and Lee are the ones with the Random Trip. We just got a little more random or maybe it's lost, I'm not really sure.

We had a video cam set up onthe dashboard for about 45 minutes this spring. Unfortunately, un-be-knownst to me, it was set for black and white. Nice video, but . . . Sal.

Thanks Fly at Night. Again Irene takes the pics but I'll pass the word on to her.
Noreen I understand, half of the time I get a picture of my finger with our little digital camera. I hear it will take video but I haven't a clue how.
Back to our adventure. We spent the night in a campground in Cherokee and in the morning Irene decided she had not seen enough of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park so we headed bank into it, up and over the top and down into Gatlinburg.
This we think is Kudzu that just kind of over grows whatever it gets near.
The museum area at the visitor center at the east entrance to the park.
The park.
The top of the hill, rain, fog and very limited visibility.
This little creek flows along side the roadway a good deal of the way down hill on the west side of the park.
Gatlinburg was an amazingly busy commercial tourist area. Lots of shops, amusement parks, and shows to spend your tourist dollars. Pigeon Forge, the home of Dolly Parton was the same with maybe even more places to spend your money.
This close to her birthday, Irene loved the pumpkins and Halloween stuff.
Cheers, Dan

I was deleting some old pics and came across this: the day you left on your all-time journey. T.S. Eliot said it best: "We shall not cease from exploration, And the end of all our exploring, Will be to arrive where we started, And know the place for the first time."

Yes Lili it's nearly Halloween already. Time flies when you are having fun. The worse part is we are all another year older.
Tell Hans to check the brake fluid. It's hard to get to but if the fluid gets low the pedal does funny things, not good. Fortunately adding fluid solved the problem. It just happened to be in a rather inopportune place.
Cheers, Dan

Come on Mike, in your old pics? We haven't been gone that long.
Mr. Eliot did have some interesting thoughts.

We headed to Chattanooga,Tn. for the night and stayed at a Camping World campground. It was quite nice and reasonably priced. The only thing we didn't realize they started moving trailers around to work on before we started moving around. We woke up the the sound of back up beepers.
We didn't find the Chattanooga Choo Choo but we did find the incline railroad.
If you look close you can see where the two cars pass half way up the hill.
We didn't take the ride as the top of the hill was fogged in. It makes it hard to enjoy the view.
Here are a few pics leaving town.
Next we headed to the Jack Daniel's Distillery. On the way we noticed a sign to the Lodge Factory Store. A few minutes later we left a few dollars and took on some cast iron ballast. You do have to keep the cook happy.
Next we arrived at Jack Daniel's.
They don't make Wild Turkey there but we did see these guys.
The tour guide said they were industry spies.
This little guy was enjoying a late afternoon snack.
From here we headed to Nashville. Here we are entering the downtown area.

We made our way to the Grand Ole Opry.
I felt it was a must see in Nashville. I had no idea what a major complex was built around the Opry. They have a convention center, hotel/resort, outlet store center and theater complex.
Next was a stop for Irene at the National Quilt Museum at Paducah, Kentucky.
Next because of bridge repairs we had to detour through a town called Cairo. It has been hit hard economically with lots of empty buildings as you drive through town. It sets on a peninsula between the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers and is protected by levees and flood gates. There is a gate that comes down in this underpass when needed.
Barges on the Mississippi River.
On the recommendation of the people at the AAA office we had dinner here.
It is interesting in that once you have ordered your meal they come around with extra "sides" like black eyed peas, potatoes and onions, fried okra, macaroni and tomatos and hot rolls. Most of the sides are brought around in large bowls however the rolls are brought out in trays.
If you want a roll just call out and they throw it to you.
It's amazing how good this guy is. Very few rolls hit the floor, this guy was very accurate even all the way across the room.
After we ate way too much we headed to Branson.

You may have wondered about my lack of posts for a few days. Well we just happened to be in the right spot at the right time and joined the Fall Rally at Branson.
We met some wonderful people, ate way too much great food, toured some beautiful trailers, and enjoyed some friendly campfires. You can read more about it and see the pictures here http://www.airforums.com/forums/f47/...son-79077.html
Cheers, Dan

Hi, Dan; I think it's time for you to return home. Otherwise there won't be any place to go on your next trip where you haven't already been to.
