So no southern route this trip? And what gives with the name change? Did I miss something, somewhere General?

Safe travels Boondocker!

Update

Its been a packed week for me on the road. I am at Navajo State Park tonight after spending a night in Chaco Canyon. They just graded the road such as it is and now is as good as a time as any to go. I may head to Page tomorrow, haven't really decided yet. Pictures and yada yada here

Sort of an update.

Since the last update I have been to Las Vegas (pick up mom) and then to Death Valley, Sequoia NP, Yosemite NP, San Fransisco (put mom on plane), Joshua Tree NP, and tonight Phoenix. I was going further, but I am tired and in no really hurry. Not sure where I will head tomorrow, maybe over to Show Low where I have never been but have heard about from forums members.

Looking for a boondock spot in east AZ

I need to find a place where I can hunker down for a few days to a week and regroup as I have been running full throttle since I hit the road a month ago. Prefer cheap or free, must have cell coverage (Verizon) and be able to run the generator. Great hiking and views also appreciated . Anyone hip to good boondocking sites in that area?

Off 260 as you are headed east out of Show Low and before you get to Springerville are hundreds of free spots in the Apache Nat'l forest. Make sure you don't go on Reservation land as the Indians require a permit. If you take 261 south, just before you get to Big Lake on the right is a gravel road with a sign "Sheep dip tank". Nice boondocking here. Further south is the East Fork of the Black River with numerous sites but I recommend mid-week camping here. Have fun.

Rodney... We have been at Fool Hollow Lake State Park in Show Low since Thursday...with friends from Tucson and Janis & Barbara (4CU from ABQ)...tomorrow (Monday) we area heading west on 260 to Mogollon Campground in the Apache-Stigreaves NF... Richard & Jan, Julianne and Janet & Leon (4CU) have been there since Friday...Jim & Min are hosts there...I think everyone's leaving today, but Julianne may stay a little longer... We talked to them by phone this AM but it was not the best connection... Maybe we'll see you there? That would be cool...it's been a while... here's a link to Mogollon Campground... Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests - Recreational Activities We are planning to check out several campground in the area this week... Maybe?

Great to meet you in Yosemite

Rodney,
It was great meeting you at Wawona in Yosemite. After leaving there we spent a few days in Duncans Mills (north of Bodega Bay) and now we're east bound to UT canyon country on US 50. The Great Basin vastness in NV is very wonderful. Maybe we'll see you again AZ.

Same here! We went to the state campground at Bodega after Yosemite. CA is proud of its unimproved (and maintained) campgrounds. BTW my camper will be at the restoration rally, but I will not. I am flying out on Thursday and back Sun, so I will miss the fun but that seems like a safe place to leave the camper.

Luna Lake NFSCG near Alpine

This is a neat little campground, it is really well kept and vendor run- maybe the only vendor run NFS campground that I have liked. They give half off with the Federal Lands pass- I hope this is an indication that the forest service will be moving to give this discount in more locations.

Tomorrow I am off to the Gila NF and will stay there through the weekend. I am looking forward to seeing the area.

Rodney,
Thanks for the update. I cannot tell there is any haze from your great pictures.
