The Airstream Traveling Game

My family has started a game while we travel. We try to spot Airstreams (TT, MOHO, Argosy). The first person to spot it gets a point, and bonus points for the following 1 point if it is in use (on the road. store parking lot or in a campground), 1 point if it has WBCCI numbers on it and 1 if it has out of state plate on it. Airstreams in RV sales lots can not be used.

Great idea for a game. Based on our experience, it would move really slow. We have traveled 4500+ miles over the road and have seen a total of two other airstreams. We have seen only two others in campgrounds.

65T,

Sounds like fun to me! I am game! We don't see many Airstreams on the road here either.... but then, we get off the interstate as quickly as we can! Do you have minus points if someone spots a Silverstreak or something and calls it an Airstream? I like your point system for on the road, etc. Very good!

We also tracked Airstream on the road, but we never gave point, will try that.
And this summer we saw about 10 units on the road or campground.

We have a game too

We have a game, too. If anyone spots an Airstream, they get a hug from mom. Dad always takes full advantage of this little game!

WE played your game!

Hi,

We just got back from a trip to Yosemite... about 900 miles round trip in all. WE played your airstream game for the entire trip. Didn't remember all your rules.... forgot the out of state license plate item... and subtracted the 'streams in the RV sales lots after re-reading your post!

Well, I won! Me = 13, Hubby = 8

It was great fun! We only found two actually on the road traveling that we passed, the others were either camping or parked by a house somewhere that could be viewed from the road. We were surprised we saw as many as we did! Only saw one other inside Yosemite National Park, however. Most of the ones we did see were vintage!

Thanks for a great idea!

Great idea for a game. We have added that if the noted Airstream acknowledges you another point is awarded. So I wonder what happens when you're going to a rally. How are those points calculated?

Acknowledge....are you kidding???

Brad -

Saw your post and had a great long laugh.... as I just posted on another thread about the lack of attention/ acknowledgement from other AS drivers/towers. I am appalled by the outright disinterest in seeing each other and saying "Long Distance HELLO!!!!"

I am astonished, but then likely everthing pales in comparision to the excitement within our vehicle when we 'CLAIM' another 'Streamer'. My kids actually now are able to occationally say - We sAw that triple axle with dual entry doors, in the Custer SP area. Our interests extend over into the length noted, the external detials, numbers incl. looking them up! - and points are awarded, GENEROUSLY!!!!!! The Scores can range from several hundred to several thousand - depending how hard you look, how hard you SELL that feature(s), and the various other rules play in also for additinional help on the points.

So as you can see we have pilot tested it extensively, and found it to be either AWESOME AND COOL, or as dry as dust depending on the traffic cycle. Have hit several caravan rallies and that set the scoreboard a rockin!!!

Excitement awaits on every longer trip we take.....!!!!!!!!!!

PS - have ANY of you found the best way to get some reaction from the dud's, to my wild flashings/ honkings/ and waving......? I confess that I am more often discouraged than happy at the sightings of late due to the seeming disinterest on the other side of the median. Of course I regularly clean everyones clock for points because I am a car/AS nut by nature - sad but true...! Just curious.

Thumbs up Great game!

What a nice thread! We play that game too. We wave with or without our Airstream.

Sometimes we feel like we are washing windows when our waves go unacknowledged, silvertoy, but we put lack of a response down to the thought that maybe something else has their attention. I know when I'm towing and there are orange barrels around I surely have focused my attention on the road before me.

An AIR sticker has got to be worth a point as well!

An AIR sticker is worth double any other category, even more than dual entry doors.
