Not sure this is the correct section for this message but here goes.

We're on our first caravan as I type in our 2012 27FB International.

During the last day of a rally, leading up to a caravan I disconnected from shore power and water and turned on the water pump. Next thing there was a ton of water pouring out of the belly pan. Since the caravan includes several days of dry camping it quickly turned into a real problem.

The following day we pulled into our first stop on the caravan and that morning (Monday) I phoned Jackson Center and talked to Tim Maxwell, explained the situation and told him I wanted to get a local repair shop out to the RV park to replace my water pump.

His only response "take care of it and send us the invoice, we'll take care of it."

What a relief, local shop came out, replaced the pump - I paid them and will pack up the old pump with the invoice and ship it back to Ohio.

One of the many reasons I bought an Airstream.

I totally agree with purman! Thanks for the positive story. So much negative on here sometimes. My Sov's old and has been neglected, but I love it and can't wait to take her camping, quirks and all! Cool that Airstream helped you out like that.

How does a faulty water pump cause water to pour out of a belly pan?
Is your water pump in the belly compartment?
or is your water pump inside the trailer under a cabinet?
Did your floor and or trailer get flooded?
Was the cause of the leak the connection to the water pump?
Did the insulation get wet?
Did Airstream pay to pull the belly pan and remove and replace the insulation?
Was your floor damaged by water?
Did it mold and or mildew in the belly pan compartment?

We bought a used 2009 airstream flying cloud 25"FB 2 weeks ago and has been very happy. After reading the airforum on story about airstream leaking and corrosion problems, I'm worried if I have made a mistake. Hopfully, these problems are just isolated to a few airsteams owner. THis is my first TV and hope to make many memories with my beautiful wife and 2 kids.

Apparently a seal failed, the pump was red hot to the touch and I guess the water came out from the pump itself. The pump is located in a compartment below the center closet, there is a rectangular cutout below the pump that I suppose goes directly to the belly. The water gained access to the belly that way.

The floor inside the trailer did not flood, the water was apparent from the outside, there was a bit of residual moisture under the pump.

This all happened during a WBCCI rally and caravan, the repair was made on the road. I'll phone my local dealer and ask if the pan should be lowered and inspected when I get home.

I guess it's a matter of 'glass half full/empty', but I don't find critical failures on new trailers to be 'good news' stories. Good that people jumped in to help, but manufactures and suppliers need to be held to a higher standard...
