Texas Thanksgiving - Lake Buchanan (what remains of it)
We spent the Thanksgiving holiday at Lake Buchanan, TX in the Texas Hill Country (about an hour west of Austin). Sharing some photos of the impact the drought has had on the lake. Even with the low lake level it's a beautiful place to visit. The photos, within what is typically the lake bed, reflect where the water is now about 1 mile from the typical shoreline.
Wow! It is hard to show in pictures, but that will give some people the idea. Hope you had a great time none the less. We need about 19" of rain to catch up.
Lake Corpus Christi goes through serious swings. A family of our acquantance has a lake house where, when the water disappears from their "branch", grows some corn and other out there in that fine, nice dirt. July 4th doesn't suffer for that.
My parents used Bastrop State Park for Thanksgiving for about 20-years. Imagine how long it will be until the park is even partially re-grown.
