Hoagy, I have a 2012 GMC 2500 HD with the factory brake controller and pull a 2015 Flying Cloud 30 with the Pro Pride. You should be using the factory brake controller!! The GMC has trailer sway control and can brake the trailer without the truck's brakes in an emergency. The Prodigy can't do that. I used a P3 and it is a nice unit but the GMC controller is excellent and integrated with safety features, such as a warning when the brake cable becomes disconnected. You have auto adjusting electric brakes that work really fast when pressing the brake pedal. I use a gain of 9.5 on my GMC. The higher setting not only has stronger braking, but will help keep the trailer from pushing the truck with the PP. I find this setting to be very smooth and powerful. Using the exhaust brake, I use very little trailer braking on the highway, even down steep descents. Good such with your setup.
