Temporary parking in Scottsdale, AZ
We are headed to Scottsdale, AZ to visit some friends for about 4-5 days and their subdivision doesn't allow trailers to be parked in front of their house. What do people do in situations like this? Do we have to pay $50 a night to park in a RV park, when we are not in it? That's the only solution we've found so far. Does anyone know of a place to park where the cost is not so prohibitive? Help!!!!

If you are NOT staying in your Airstream and only need "storage", enter "rv storage near Scottsdale, AZ" in Google (or your favorite search engine) to view a list of places where you can park your RV during your stay.
Also, you might see if your friends' subdivision has an RV storage yard where you can park your Airstream for a few days.
Otherwise, if you ARE staying in your Airstream, enter "campgrounds near scottsdale, az".

Some campgrounds offer storage areas, where you can park with no hookups of any kind.
You would need to call around.
The other option, of course.....take your car and leave the trailer behind.

Another reason why membership in the WBCCI is a bargain. See www.wbcci.org for all the information about joining this great community of friends, all the benefits, and all the fun!

Most storage yards charge by the month, but you might check on craigslist, as some home owners offer storage space on their land

We live in Scottsdale from November to May and store our 350 LE motorhome at Desert Storage at 94th and Bell Road. Google them for their website and phone. We pay by the month but you might be able to work something out with them. They always prorate our rent if we leave before the month is up. Other facilities we are familiar with don't. It's a very secure facility. A few Airstream trailers are stored there. I believe that Scottsdale codes allow a motorhome or a trailer to park on a public street for 72 hours but most neighborhoods have restrictions on any overnight parking. Consider one of the Maricopa County campgrounds as an alternative. They will be less expensive than an RV park (there's only one in Scottsdale that I know of) and are very nice if you want a taste of the Sonoran Desert with gorgeous views. Enjoy your visit to our beautiful city.

I just thought of another possibility for storing your trailer. Google WestWorld Scottsdale. It is a beautiful Arabian Horse facility in the NW part of the city. The storage area where we keep our motorhome is right next to it. We use their dump station when we need to. The rate will be less than $30 per night and all of the hookup are water and electric. Call for reservations. We were out working on our Zephyr for a trip to Palm Desert next week and noticed that there were plenty of open spaces.

Some communities are more welcoming & accommodating than others to RVs. Check with Good Sam Club. Some local restrictions can be invalid.

I second Westworld. We left our trailer there for 2 or 3 days during the Super Bowl last year while we stayed at a relative's home. Cheap and easy. Had power and water also.

Camping in Cave Creek AZ
Just North of Scottsdale is Cave Creek. Try the Cave Creek Recreational Area. Full hook ups with reservations available at http://www.maricopacountyparks.org/
Very nice and not very well known.
A quite desert park.

We store our Airstream Trailer at Extra Storage Space on Bell Road in Scottsdale. The shortest rental is probably a month but it is clean and secure the rent on an uncovered space is probably $80/month. You maybe able to work something out for a shorter time period but winter is their premium season so it is hard to find discounts from now through March. I saw that West World was mentioned in an earlier post that is probably your best bet but if WW doesn't work give Extra Storage a call their number is 602-404-0457

When will you be visiting.
Scottsdale has started its very busy winter visitor season.
We just finished bowl games, have playoffs, PF Chang marathon, Parada del Sol, Barrett Jackson, Phx Open, and Arabian Horseshoe which leads into baseball.
So keep that in mind when scheduling. The Bell Rd storage sounds good along with westworld but it will get busy. There's a small RV park in South Scottsdale that transitioning from trailer park to RV park and the might be interested in a few days storage fee. Wheel inn Ranch RV.

Or you could schedule some maintenance work at the dealership in Mesa and drop it off with them.
