Suwanee River State Park
After leaving Lakeland, Florida yesterday en route to the Airstream Park in Pensacola, we decided to stop at Suwanee River SP in Live Oak, Florida. Seemed a nice distance to drive since this was our first long drive in our new Airstream FC28.
We arrived at the entrance to the park only to find that the road to the entrance was torn up. So we called the park office who gave us directions . Drive back 15 or so miles to county road 129, turn left, then drive another 5 miles or so to county road 132, turn left, then drive back another 15 miles until a dead end and lo and behold, we were right back at the park entrance only just on the other side of the small section of road that had been torn up. So tomorrow when we leave, we'll need to retrace our circular route back to I10.
So as you might imagine, I was fuming mad all the way at this detour until we actually pulled into our campsite. What a lovely setting. Well separated from the other campers, and another Airstream just next door to us. We took a hike with the dogs along the river and it was lovely as well.
We'd love to stay here longer but first, we have to get back home and second, it's so cold we have on our winter layers in the morning. Fortunately there is a 50 amp hookup and our electric blanket kept us toasty warm.
We'll be back here sometime, and the ranger assured us the road would be open in the near future.
