Suggestions for travel between Gunnison CO and Albuquerque, NM

We will be traveling with our 1971 Overlander from Michigan to Gunnison, CO. We want to avoid going through Monarch Pass. Anyone have any experience in alternate routes to avoid the higher elevations and all the switch-backs?
Then leaving Gunnison CO for Albuquerque, NM. Would welcome any suggestions for scenic routes to take and nice campgrounds or RV parks to stay in along the way. Would like full hook up, but electricity only will work. We would like to make Albuquerque our base and sight-see from there. Would only have about 4 days there. Would love suggestions on interesting places to visit, etc. Thanks!

Depending on what you are towing with, Monarch Pass isn't bad. The road is wide, well maintained and easy to maneuver.

In Albuquerque:
Indian Pueblo Cultural Center
Albuquerque Museum / Museum of Natural History (close to each other)
Old Town and Plaza
Zoo and Botanical Gardens
The aerial tram to Sandia Crest/or
You can drive up to the top of Sandia Crest from Cedar Crest on the east side (don't miss Tinkertown on the way)
Nob Hill for funky shopping and dining

For a campground I suggest Enchanted Trails off I-40 on the west of Albuquerque, about 10 miles from downtown.
