We were there a few years ago. The park is long (north/south) but very narrow (east/west).
If you enjoy riding a bicycle there is an awesome bike path that follows the old Erie Canal. The gradient is such that it makes bicycle riding very enjoyable. I think there is an option to bicycle one way and ride back on an old train. The gradient is easy if you want to ride back up hill. Remember to get your National Park Passport book stamped if you have one.
