John,

What are the dates? Not hard to find, but can be chilly at night (barring snow) from now 'till March at 7000 ft. Oscar

A little info

Hi John - I have traveled thru Raton several times. It is on the NM/Colo. border with Raton pass on the way North into Colorado. Trinidad, CO is not far and an interesting town historically. Pretty with mountains around although arid/dry climate makes it look somewhat semi-desert. Not far to Santa Fe, NM with lots of SW art and food. Might be an interesting place for a rally!! You will probibly find lots of camping around there. Taos, MN is also just a short distance away. Don't know if the town of Raton is much, but is close enough to many exciting places that it could a fun place to headquarter. Happy Trails. Leigh

Raton from May to Sept

John,
You can't ask for a better place for that time of year, although you may get some hail.
That is my childhood home town and it is a small lovely town.
Not much to do there, except enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
We usually spend 1 or 2 months there each summer, visiting family and reminiscing. There are many places for day trips and sightseeing.
Hope you enjoy your stay.

Even the interstate has some beauty, not like the back roads, but here is a shot south of Raton on the way to Santa Fe.
