Stockton CA area camping ideas?

We are looking for a nice place for the Veterans day weekend to get away in the Central Valley (within 90 minutes of Stockton). Any ideas?

Thanks

There are lots of spots in the Delta. One I know of is the KOA at Tower Park Marina.

If you have 90 minutes from Stockton there are a few lakes in the foothills that are fun. The Dardenelles resort east of Sonora is also nice but may be a bit over 90 min.

We live just over the hill from Stockton, there is a fantastic park called Lake Del Valle, it is a regional park and can be reserved through Reserve America. They have nice sized, paved level sites with Water and Sewer, no electricity though, but lots of great hiking and fishing.

Fun near Stockton...

Hello,

Here are some ideas, suggestions of what you and your family enjoy might help to get others: Be sure and check if various campsites, etc. are open for Veteran's Day... many of the public ones close after Oct 1.

Columbia State Park (California) in the foothills has lots of activities. I do know, however, that in this off season there aren't many RV parks open near there you will need to do a search. There is one that is close we have stayed at but the name escapes me. A google search would probably give you some ideas. Here is the link for the Park:
Columbia California - Columbia State Historic Park - Gold Rush Country

Marshall Gold Discovery State Park (California) in the foothills in Coloma, California is also interesting. If the weather is cold or rainy, it might not be as interesting as the rest of the time as one would walk to and from various buildings and displays outside. They do not have camping at this park. Not sure what is nearby that is open in winter. Here is a link:
Marshall Gold Discovery SHP

Sacramento has lots of interesting places to visit. The Cal Expo has a nice RV park, but is a drive from many of the "tourist" sites. Old Town Sacramento is fun, the Train Museum in old town Sacramento is awesome if you haven't been, as are the tours of the Governor's Mansion, the state capitol, the state Indian Museum, as well as art museums.

Monterey has great stuff as well! Good camping at Laguna Seca and commerical RV parks. If you have a small rig they have a wonderful campground in the center of the city at Memorial Park. But nothing longer than maybe 22 feet... however there are some nice state parks down the coast a bit that are wonderful. Here is a link to the Veteran's Memorial Park in Monterey, CA: http://www.monterey.org/rec/vetspark.html

Casini Ranch near Sonoma along the Russian River is also very nice. We attended a Airstream Rally there and had a great time. Here is there website: Casini Ranch :: Family camping on the Russian River in California

Folsom Dam off of I-80 has nice camping. Good place to get away from it all. Lots of oak trees so the leaves will be falling in November!

Good luck in finding a great get away!

Thanks to all, some really good ideas here. We were having trouble booking at some of our favorite places as it was for the Veterans day weekend. We did book in Columbia at a recommend site.

Caswell State Park

Caswell State Park is in the Manteca area on the San Joaquin River. When we lived in Stockton way back before our kids and then again when our daughter was where we yet did not know her gender (she's 36 now) we camped there. It was a very peacefull and pretty spot. Hopefully it is still so.

I erred. It is on the Stanislaus River and is near Ripon. I said it has been awhile.Caswell Memorial SP

I drove over to look and it is still very pretty but 23 feet is the very longest unit that one can put into this place. Too bad as it was very close.
