State Park in Florida

Hi everyone, I liked to give a thumbs up to Highland Hammocks State Park in Sebring, Florida. Beautiful grounds, really nice amenities, huge old oak trees, great trails for hiking and short walks and biking. Highly recommend.

Cool! That's one of the ones I haven't made it to yet. How are the camp sites? Are they shaded? Is there enough "hammock" in between the sites for privacy? Thanks!

Hammocks is a very nice park. Just down the road a piece towards Sarasota is Myaca State Park This is an large, very nice park, has the RV sites off by them selves. A ways down the road is a lunch place, gift shot, a huge lake, picnic area, and a couple of tours on the lake and the land. I enjoyed both parks. Myaca is not too far, 30 min or so, from the Gulf at Sarasota.

Henderson Beach in the panhandle (Destin) is a wonderful park. Nice secluded sites, within reasonable walking distance of those beautiful beaches. Was there in February and loved it despite the rain and chilly weather.

Yeah, Myakka River SP is a good one, especially if you like to see gators. They're plentiful. Actually, there were wild boar roaming all over the place the last time we went down there. Truth is they weren't wild at all, they walked right up to the site, looking for our dog food. Our german shepherd was not impressed, lol.

I did not see hammock area between sites, plenty of shade with the huge oaks.
