Good stuff, thanks for sharing. The storm surge map is concerning - if you're camped in or near those zones, it's definitely time to move to higher ground.

Station PCLF1 at Pensacola also has Tide information:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=pclf1

and the Water Level graph 1/2 way down the following page shows tides running about a foot above normal so far (red line):

Stay safe!

NDBC Buoy Station 42039, 115 nautical miles SSE of Pensacola is here:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=42039

and the combined plot of wind speed, gusts and air pressure follows. This graph will show when the center of the storm passes nearby, as the 3 plot lines are now moving up quickly, and will drop quickly if/as the eye passes over/nearby:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/show_plot.p...time_label=CDT

The wave height chart is taking off as well:

NDBC map of all stations in Gulf near this storm. You can click on each station to bring up info similar to that already posted:

Looks like the worst may be over a little further south at NDBC Buoy Station 42003 208 NM west of Naples:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=42003

as the winds might have just peaked with wind gusts up to 55 knots:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/show_plot.p...time_label=CDT

and a wave height peak of just over 19' :

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/show_plot.p...time_label=CDT

The map linked in Post #24 shows this Station 42003 clearly in the lower left corner near the Station Legend.

Just become a hurricane, landfall about midnight, south of Tallahassee. Very light rain and calm here in Gainesville.

The air pressure at Buoy 42039 just plummeted to 29.47 inches -- pretty low, and the wind gusts may have peaked at about 41 knots with sustained winds of 33 knots or so.

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/show_plot.p...time_label=CDT

See Post #23 for more info. on this buoy.

If the air pressure rockets up soon, and the winds pick up again, it is possible that the eye may have passed close to this buoy, 115 NM SSE of Pensacola.

We came through the Panhandle in the mid 90's after a major hurricane had wiped out the area. I forget the name but finding a site was tough. Many campers were actually residents from the beach waiting to rebuild.
