State or National park north and south of St. Louis

I am going to be heading up to Wisconsin next week to pick up a new to me 2006 Safari 23SE. St. Louis is about midway. Does any one have recommendations on a park north and south of St. Louis for a mid trip overnight. I will be traveling up and down I55. I prefer State or National Parks.

If you want to take the time a visit to Hawn State Park off highway 32 south of St. Louis near Farmington Missouri would be a nice stop. You would want to take sometime to hike some of its trails but you may want to check availability for a camping site, it fills up fast.

I stayed in Babler memorial park... Nice. I believe it is about thirty miles west of St. Louis.
