Have been fishing Tenkara for 2.5 years now. It's different. Your feel is transferred direct from the line to the rod to your hand. Tight lines has real meaning. Best fished with no slack, no line on the water just the fly (if dry fly fishing) then if nymphing or wet fly you can imitate rise very easily. Absolutely love my Tenkara rods! Sources for Rods: TenkaraBum.com (Chris had lots of info on his site from users and his own experience) Tenkara USA is another. I use mine with western flies that I tie for the waters I fish, and sometimes the "traditional" Tenkara flies is fishing pressured waters. Took my "western" rods on our Canada trip and never used them even in large wide fast rivers where I thought that I might need them. Just added line length, tippet length using my Diawa Sagiri and Amago.
