I may not need to as tomorrow and the next day will do it for me. The race is not to the swift . . . . Being beat up by fatigue is no way to fulfill the obligation. The lousy part is adapting to a discipline that works.

He's young, spry and probably still on SE Asia time. Hopefully he'll sleep longer than he plans and just rolls with it rather than trying to "catch up."

Well, I can't talk too much, being famous/notorious for doing the SF/Denver run straight through...still, I do stop for half hour breaks!

With a 45' 5'er?
In general:
White line fever always makes things seem easy . . so long as everyone else does what they are supposed to do, and that all else holds no surprises either. It's deceptive. And, no great accomplishment although people think it is. It's monkey skill, and no more. The same trance as the right drug or drink combination. We've all done it once, in other words.
Hope that today on the road has had no surprises of that sort, and some decent meals have been sourced. That makes a pleasing difference. Sleep is as one can, unfortunately.

Hey guys,
Ok I guess a tad bit more explanation should go into this.
DKB_SATX hit the nail right on the head. My body is still wired for Asian time zones. Since this past Sunday I've bounced between 4 countries for meetings and training exercises. I know your prolly wondering what that has to do with driving like a mad man.
It's kinda hard to explain unless you've experienced it. When I hit San Jose and made my departure it was 16:30 hrs, so thats around 06:30 hrs in Asia. That's what time my day starts and also the clock I'm still wired for. I work 12 to 18 hour days when in Asia. So I was only doing a routine shift by driving as far as I did.
Trust me folks I was in no way boasting about driving that far, It was just a statement of fact. I promise I will not push myself to a point of danger. I just got a good 7 hrs of sleep and a very soothing hot shower. The hardest thing for me to do it try and get my body to accept food after I fly for so long. Dunno why but I have little or no appetite when I get back stateside. I did manage to eat a small bit.
I've got a wealth of people supporting me along the way, you wouldn't believe how many people want this to be a successful trip. The company I work for of which who paid for the tickets for me to fly into San Jose has called me several times along this trip. I've got fellow co workers from Trinidad and India who I just got off the phone with that called to see how it's going. And countless family members and of course Mrs.S is keeping extra close tabs on me. She's even got a tracker to monitor me through my iPhone. Sneaky woman!
And last but not least the family that's awaiting their house. They check on me very often.
Also just for the record I have at no time consumed anything to enhance my ability to stay awake, just in case you were wondering
Welp guess its time for some coffee and get back on the road.
I appreciate everyone's concerns and support, you would post if you didn't care
Thanks folks!
Mr. S

Hope there's a good meal or two in store (to one's own definition). That always seems the best reward, IMO, well earned.

Back From The Dead
Wow what a trip that was. Sorry I kinda left everyone hanging. Im sure your can understand why.
2100 miles .... 836.00 dollars in diesel...20 hours driving the first day from San Jose, CA to Willcox, AZ then 8 hours of sleep, then 20 hours of driving the second day from Willcox, AZ to Newton, Texas.
Makes me tired to just type and think about that trip again.
I know the way I made that trip goes against every safety guideline in the book, but I was pushing hard to get the trailer back to the family before Sunday.
Brother-in-law was off Sunday due to all the rain in Texas they gave the guys a day off and he was going to use that day for packing and getting his family of 4 ready to reunite under one roof.
Well I done my part but it didnt work out all the way. They finally called me yesterday, they couldnt get the cabin lights to work, the central vac system wouldnt work, and the on board genny was running rough.
They called the guy in San Jose and he told them to take it to a local shop and he would pay to have everything fixed, since he was supposed to have fixed all that, but it would be a week for anyone could look at it.
So after chasing multiple wires, servicing the gen, and teaching them the difference between AC & DC power , they are ready to go and will be pulling out prolly today with everything working perfectly.
My sister-in-law just cried and cried and couldnt thank me enough, she cooked me supper and made me a cake.
Bless her heart she just a everyday mommy wanting to have her 4 all together, never to much to ask for.
Ill go to great lengths for people that are humble and appreciate what you do for them, they tried multiple times to pay me. Im easy just smile and tell me thanks and Ill help you any way I can.
Thank you everyone for your support. I really appreciate it.
Guess this story has a happy ending.
