WE just came back from a great trip! Austin Tx to Sedona to Grand Canyon to Monterey/Carmel to Yosemite to Moab, UT, to Navaho Lake State Park and flyfishing on the San Juan River in New Mexico to Ruidoso and Carlsbad Caverns then back home. All in about 3.5 weeks. Yes we had a few mishaps. My main concerns: 2 blowouts on fairly new (10k miles) Goodyear Marathon tires in hot weather (98-107 degrees) on front tires on a three axel setup and a fractured rear support arm on a Zip-Dee Awning that dragged on the road for a few miles. Before all that however we did suceed in leaving Yosemite over 9600 ft Sonora Pass in a 34' Classic pulled by a F250 diesel restricted to 24' trailers with 15 mph hairpin turns and 10' snowdrips ( road was clear and dry). That was pretty hairy but the PArk ranger said it was good. The eastly exit through Yosemite was closed in late May. The South exit was way out of the way. Are there any better Exits from Yosemite? Passes can be scary. What are your feavorite tires on a A/S 34' Classic? I did not enjoy chaging the tire in 107 degree heat on a melting asphalt parking lot in Carlsbad. Thanks for viewing. Dennis and Debbie

Wow, are you brave. I wouldn't chance the Sonora Pass with a trailer. It's far and away the steepest and most challenging Sierra pass in the Eastbound direction. With our 1990 VW Camper, we barely make 10 mph over the crest, but worst, the brakes always fade on the way down. Scary stuff.
Glad you made it safely. Hope others don't think that this is a wise route, however.
