Some pics from the Road
OK all you travel starved viewers. I took a bunch of shots from the van while driving from FL to OR last month, but absent a high speed connection, I couldn't post any (in my lifetime, anyway ).
So here are a few of the Columbia River Gorge in OR while driving along I-84 westbound toward Hood River.
Remember that these were taken while driving, so they are not the best......but you'll get the picture!
The mountain is Mount Hood in OR and the big peak behind my camp site at the Sunset RV park in Hood River (temporary stop) is Mt. Adams in WA.
Enjoy!

Thanks Lew, Makes me want to hook up and go now. But that would be hard to do with a stripped out trailer.

Thanks, Lew. Great shots, and a very impressive trailer-TV combo you have there. I have over two years on my Marathons and after reading all the stories about tread separation, I have been considering the 16" wheel and tire upgrade. Where did you get the rims? Does it make the trailer ride a little higher?

GREAT pictures Lew!!!! I just love that part of the country. Your set up is very trick. I'll bet you get a ton of looks and thumbs up going down the highway. What kind of mileage do you get?
The Oregon coast is about 6 hours from home. Showed my wife and suggested strongly that we head that way next weekend instead of back east for a wedding but all I got was a smack on the shoulder when I said hey, most marriages today end in divorce anyways so lets go camping instead. Gosh, no sense of humor tonight. We are working towards 2 weeks on the Oregon coast in early September.

We bought our TradeWind from up near there. We were so excited about getting it home we didn't take the time (well a friend was doing the towing for us) to renew old vacation places. We have the time now so....ah, you are right, this is America the Beautiful!

Hey, GP, I will have to see if the boss (read that wife) can get the time off at the end of the month. Right now she's got the first two weeks booked off but she may be able to switch. We'd love to join you for that. I'll get her to check on Monday when she's back in the office. Thanks for the reminder, and the invitation.

SR,
Look at Trailer Tires and Wheels - trailer tires, boat trailer tires, trailer wheels, boat trailer wheels, aluminum trailer wheels for a nice selection of aluminum trailer wheels. I have BF Goodrich Commercial T/A 225/75-16 LRE tires on the new rims and travel with much less stress now than when I had the Marathons.
Of course, the fact that I also use a Pressure Pro tire monitor system AND Rdo-On tire sealants in ALL my tires also helps a lot

Hi Barry,
I have been getting 14-17 mpg hooked up and loaded. That is to say, I carry about 8000lb in the van (GVW is 8550) with all of my tools and parts, not to mention the 600 lb.motorcycle that made the trip in the back of the van this time.
In regular running around SW Florida when I'm working (also heavily loaded) I get 20-22 mpg. I have a few friends that run these mostly empty and have been getting 25-26 at 60 mph.

O Boy! Great pictures of one of my favorite places. Time for a bowl of chowdah at the Trillium Cafe!
I have a quick question about your new P3. Can you see the screen from a normal seated position?

Hey Mike,
What wheel?.........the van drives itself......a new feature from Mercedes
But really, I bought a new Casio Exilim V-7 digital that is so small and light, it's easy to one-hand it.
Geat camera, BTW. I was and am very impressed....especially at the price!

I must say that having a real New Englandah in the Hood adds to the mix nicely! I have the P-3 mounted to my lower left side at about knee level, maybe 24" below eye level and have no problems seeing the screen. It does present a slight problem when looking at it thru polarized sunglasses though .
