Soap?
We use pump style hand soap but it tends to pump itself while driving. Anybody have any ideas to keep this from happening?

Either unscrew the pumps from the bottles and use a same size cap or empty the pump soap containers into a larger one before you drive off.

You mean like a bottle you buy in the store? You could put it in a zip loc and leave it in the sink. You could also buy wall mount dispensers (any home store would have them) that you stick to your wall. We did that for the shower recently.

I think most of the pumps can be pushed back in, and then twisted to lock back in place.
We usually put ours in the sink too.

maybe just put it in a regular dish soap type squeeze container ?
I just throw both the pump hand soap bottle and the dawn dish soap bottle in a zip lock bag, and toss 'em in the plastic dishpan that rides in the galley sink.

Most are push down and turn to lock. If you look at them when you buy them, they are usually pushed down. You turn them and the pump pops us. So you reverse the process to lock them. Some have small plastic collars on the pump which stops them from being pushed down. You remove the collar when they are new. Save the collar and reinstall it before you leave.
We have both types of bottles described above and it's easy to keep them from pumping while traveling.

Just take a 1/16" or smaller drill bit and drill a small hole in the cover near the pump. This will allow expanding air to escape through this hole rather than pushing soap out the tip of the pump.
We have one in the bath and kitchen, drilled both and they no longer push soap out.

Thanks for the tips. We have screwed them back in but you waste soap that way and the zip lock bags still make them gooey. They ride in the sink now but we have to constantly wash them off. The drill bit idea sounds interesting.

We have the same problem. I don't think the soap dispenser is pumping.
More likely temperature change or elevation change is expanding/contracting the air within the bottle, pushing out soap through the dispenser with each expansion cycle. Loosening the cap so that air can escape while keeping the bottle vertical helps. I do this and leave the bottle laying in the lavatory sink. Still drips occasionally.

I hate wasting water to clean them off when boon docking so trying to find solution to no drips. Was thinking of hanging them by their nozzles and see if that makes a difference.

It's a change in atmospheric pressure that's pushing the soap out. A couple good suggestions above should solve the problem: drill small hole somewhere near the top of the bottle, or unscrew the cap to allow the pressure to equalize.

It's like the bag of chips swelling to near combustion when we head north. )

I noticed this problem the first time I left Flagstaff for lower elevations. I just keep the cap loose enough to vent air pressure.
Now I travel with all soap dispensers in the soap rack in the shower.

Hahaha! Happens to us too! I sometimes wonder if we'll be able to get a bag out of the cabinet if we pack 'em too full. 😳😳

I had the same problem. Determined it was caused by air pressure (elevation) changes and/or temperature changes. Loosening the cap solved the problem. I think I will drill the hole in the cap for a permanent fix that I do not have to remember. My rememory is not always reliable.

I keep my soap in a repurposed mustard container with a screw lock cap. Squeeze works as good as pump.
