I had the same problem. Determined it was caused by air pressure (elevation) changes and/or temperature changes. Loosening the cap solved the problem. I think I will drill the hole in the cap for a permanent fix that I do not have to remember. My rememory is not always reliable.

I keep my soap in a repurposed mustard container with a screw lock cap. Squeeze works as good as pump.
