So, how do we handle the wait?

OK, we bought our very lightly used 2012 Serenity because we could not pass it up, despite the fact that we have our daughter's wedding in Savannah March 1.
That, and all of the showers and stuff are sucking up time and money until then. We have done some nice "camping" at great local KOA. We have a one month tour of NC in our AS planned for May, but it seems so far away. How do we handle the wait?

Hey, Switz, thanks, we have been doing that. But it just is not the same as seeing the beach or the mountains of NC. We are ready but just cannot get away yet.

Here's a great suggestion. Join the Alumalina get together at Lake Wateree State Park, SC from 20-22 September. (Plug in "Alumalina" in the "Search" function and you can get all the info.) I suggest this because this was my very first rally after buying my 2012 Intl and I had just a wonderful time. Great people, wonderful social environment and the FOOD was awesome. A great community of fellow Airstreamers. Please, if you can, join us!

Polish the door knobs? Customize? Make the trailer yours by putting your brand on it? Make a list of all the places you want to see? Make sure you have all the tools you need to fix on-the-road emergencies & breakdowns? Plan menus for the trip? Sit back and relish in the fact you CAN travel with your Airstream?

Looks like this is less than 50 miles from your home, and this Croatan National Forest campground gets good reviews. You might want to consider a weekend trip or overnighter, just to enjoy the outdoors.

The difference between "in-laws" and "outlaws"? Outlaws are wanted....

Just curious-- will you be putting up any family members/friends in your house for the pre-wedding visits? We've had a couple of small family reunions at our house, and happily gave up our bedroom to relatives, and stayed in the Bambi. We explained "we know how everything works," explained to them how the kitchen coffee makes works, and left it at that.

Maybe you could invite some guests to stay at your place so you have an excuse.

Nice thought but the wedding will be in Savannah and we live 6 hours from there. I am not sure why I ever agreed to Savannah as I certainly regret it now. I am afraid with all of the junk on the schedule, I will probably winterize in October and we will not use the AS again until after the wedding in March.

Just a thought, why not take the Airstream to Savannah kill two birds with one shot so to speak...

Regards,

Reganzo

I thought of parking it in the church parking lot and doing my Randy Quaid imitation, right there in downtown Savannah. But I do not have any overalls....

Without the Randy Quaid imitation, you might get away with it. A late friend of mine (may he rest in peace) routinely parked his RV overnight in church parking lots while on the road. He said that as long as he asked permission first he was never once turned away. That's what he used to do instead of staying overnight at a Walmart or Cracker Barrel. He really liked it because churches tend to be in better neighborhoods than Walmarts, and quieter, too.

Plus, if film stars use trailers as change rooms on location, you could, too, in the church parking lot if it is a formal wedding. Your AS would sure beat the changing room in the church basement.

Hmmmm, maybe not. You don't want to upstage the bride.

This will be in Savannah. She has an entire historic home next to the church, in which to change. I, on the other hand, will be stuck in my tuxedo the whole time. We rented a house down there, before we even thought about buying our AS, so I will leave the AS at home. I will be eating hamburger helper for a year after this wedding, but that is easily prepared in the AS.
