Snow in CA or AZ?
We are gonna head out of San Jose (Morgan Hill) on Friday AM.
Do any Californians or Arizonians tell me a good place to go relatively close to US 101 and I-10 to go to stay a night or 2 to get access to some snow?
I don't want to pull any steep grades or drive thru snow packed roads with the trailer, but do want to find a place to unhook for the night with little to no snow) and drive to within 30 min or so to get to play in some significant accumulation.
Any advice would be appreciated. Bandit the Siberian Husky is wanting to play in snow this trip, and I have not made her wish come true yet....

Hi u 2!
No snow here, BUT some real deep tire tracks from some Airstream folks who sunk in the mud trying to avoid a mud puddle.
Weather is supposed to be pretty windy the next few days!!!!!
Safe travels,
Michael

These could work for you. Go back to the KOA in Pomona and the snow is not far. Mt. Baldy is just up Mountain Ave. The drive is not to bad, if all you need is an area for the dog, just travel until there is a turn-out with snow. Another idea would be Yucaipa Regional Park just off I-10 (909) 7903127. For the snow just head up Hiway 38 til you find the white stuff. You will have to deal with all the low landers that will also be up for snow play. It shouldn't be to bad. The dog should really like it. Our American Eskimo loves the snow as well.
Good Luck

Watch the weather channel if you can get it and follow the storms. CA has tons of snow this week and the roads are all good. Actually its quite fun when they are harsh. You just have to plan for extra time and make it an adventure. Don't let the fair weather people stop or alter where you want to be, get out there and blow some snow and have fun.... spring is coming believe it or not. Get out there and have fun.

Will this limit where I can leagally go? That place mentioned at Mt. Baldy on Mountain Ave sounded easy.... Will I be stopped to be checked for chains?

Without chains, there are limits in California on how far you can travel into snow country. It is the law to carry snow chains in snow country during the winter season.
The authorities error on the side of caution in establishing chain control check points in the Southern California mountains. Have fun and enjoy the white fluffy stuff.
