Smoky Mountian Nat. Park-here I come

As of this afternoon spring break is underway. My plumbing is torn up, my pergo is only 80% down, and I have one pannel polished somewhat. Sounds like time to go camping! I am pulling out tomorrow and will be staying in the park, probally Cades Cove into next week. Time to do some photography and hiking and just sittin out under the trees. WOOOHOOO for me

Did you give them advance warning you were coming? Err, I meant, did you make reservations?

I like the way you think. Never let work in progress interfere with the possibility of a camping trip! I bet you'll have some awesome pics, redbuds and maybe dogwoods should be be peaking about then.

Of course, some of us will slave away in the salt mines next week.

Yeah, I admire your spirit. I am, unfortunately, at the mercy of the motivated slave (err-- husband), who wants to stay home and polish. It's a time thing- with a "showing" for Easter (to the family)...

Have fun!! Show us your photos!!

I've been a little hesitant to explore the area with trailer-in-tow since my first episode. We drove a 30' rv and ended up on the "Senic" route into Piegon Forge. At one switchback I could see the entire side of our toad Honda in the right side mirror - and it was on the other side of a dropoff.

The Smokies are beautiful this time of year. I just live an hr away and visit very often. We havent taken the A/S up yet, that will have to wait for the May Rally. Love the pictures! Hope you didnt have to drive in those terrible storms we had last night.

Rodney, as always, your photos do not disappoint. Great wildlife, and the ridge skyline is fabulous. I love how you've captured the light streaming through the clouds. That little pileated woodpecker, how did you sneak up on him? I've found them to be elusive little birds.

Thanks for the kind words everyone . It is always fun to share some images with people who appreciate nature.

I can't begin to tell you the epic that getting a decent image of a pileated has been. At the end of things, while I was laying in wait for bear (to no avail) that bird flew right up and went about its business with no concern about me at all. The lighting was kind of tough, but other than that when the time came the photography was straight forward.

As the saying goes . . .

So Rodney, you were loaded for bear, but a bird in the lens turned out to be worth more than two bears in the woods . . . uh, err, or something like that.

I think the pileated was worth the wait.
