We might be discussing two separate items.

What I'll call the "seal" is attached to the interior slide face, and is a compression gasket. Mine also came loose along the entire top run. Two-part epoxy wasn't holding it. Hot glue seems to work much better. GCinSC is right, removing the awning arm at the lower arm attachment makes for much easier access.

On the body is what I'll call the "gasket". Mine is a 2008, that I took delivery of in October '07. This whole assembly was rebuilt at J/C about six months after taking possession, because of leaks. No problems, since.

Per boondockdads refinement yes I worked on the black gasket on the slide shell, not the body gasket.

Wish I was sitting outside it right now pondering dinner or who was gonna host happy hour.

Thanks for the info. The seal I am talking about is the large one that wipes/sweeps the sides and top when you open/close the slide. It is about 3 inches wide. It is fastened to the fiberglass shell that is part of the opening, with imbedded metal clips, and its purpose is to clean water and debris from the slide when closing and to provide addition weatherproofing. The metal clips rust with age and water and the rubber comes loose.

Upcoming Floor Mod on S/O

If you were able to get pix of that mod, you'd be my personal hero. After six years, six children, and a dog- the carpet has got to go. I'll be doing it myself, but I don't want to tear into it until I have a better understanding of what exactly is going on under that dinette.
Boondockdad,
Beyond the flooring mod, I've got a list of a few other things they are going to take care of for me while I'm at J/C. I'm going to do all I can to photograph as much of all the work they do for me as I can.

I'll be sure to post the floor mod photos & I'll send you a link to them.

Well guess what, we are camping at the Des Moines KOA (actually in Adel-Desoto) and another Slider shows up across the street on a one-nighter. A 2004 Safari from AZ and they just replaced their carpet with wood plank linoleum. It looks great. We had a real nice visit about Sliders, a very nice couple.

We have a 2007 Classic with slide and we always put it out because we really like the roomy feel.

Well, old Silver is at the Mother Ship to get all new hickory flooring except for the bedroom; a new "high boy" toilet, and replacing the couch with 2 recliners. Not sure when it will all get done but I anticipate after the first of the year. Once it is completed, I will post some pictures. I had to get over to Illinois for a meeting so I didn't have a chance to do the factory tour, but hope to next trip. Also, the fellow next to me at the park had a 2007 with a slide; we had some pleasant conversation.

Pappy,

Good luck with the changes, hope all works per plan and better.

Any chance you can pick their brains a bit about slide adjustment pointers?

Airslide has a good thread about it but more info can't hurt.

Gary

The slides are a sought after on the used market. The owner of my local dealership talked to me at a local RV show. He said that most of the sliders he resells are gone with 24 hours. He's got folks on a waiting list!

Pappy, I would love to see pictures when the conversion is done. I did the highboy, ceramic toilet upgrade last year and both the missus and I agree we should have done it earlier. I will be starting the floor upgrade to the new vinyl planks from carpeting next month and am considering the loungers as well.

We just replaced the entire floor (including the bedroom) with a product called Moduleo. It was done by Western Interiors in Turner OR (just outside of Salem). They've been doing flooring for over 30 years - recently started doing RVs. They did a fantastic job. Moduleo is a "snap together" floating floor. They ONLY use Moduleo in RVs because "snaps" both ways so you don't get any gapping due to temperature extremes.

The flooring comes about a dozen options - some look like wood, some like stone. Given the already heavy "woody" interior of our classic, we chose a stone look.

There don't appear to be any issues with the slide. Apparently this stuff wears like iron. The only issue is the flooring is somewhat heavy. I figure it added about 175# to my trailer.

They did an amazing job. I'd use them again in a heart beat! Total cost was $2,800.

That's really nice looking, and I like the idea of not going with more wood look. Sure would like to know how they replace the flooring under the slide. Our original carpet is starting to show some age and wear.

Here are the finished recliners and new oak floor done by JC. I will pick up my unit in late April or may, so don't have a bunch of pictures. The fellows that did the work took these pictures to show the box over the battery connector and the custom cabinet. Really looking forward to getting the old silver bullet on the road.

I think that light oak looks really sharp!

I took it in late September, but they didn't start on it until December for 2 reasons; to order the components of my order and to get in on the 10% winter discount. Obviously I could pick it up now if I wanted, but I am working in Colorado and won't get a chance to go 1200 miles to JC until late April or early May. They did a number of other upgrades/changes/maintenance, so I'll be ready to hit the road.
