Sedona/Santa Fe/ Albuquerque
I'm considering a trip early next summer to Sedona/Santa Fe/Albuquerque area. I would like to stay at a very nice full hook-up Rv park at each location. Boon-docking is not an option. I have read all the Rv park reviews I could find but would love to hear from you regarding your favorite full hook-up Rv parks in the area. Your comments would I be most appreciated.

Have stayed twice at Lolo Mai in Sedona. Gorgeous sites. Just a few short miles to Sedona.

We stayed at the Rancho Sedona RV park for a few days in September. It is only a short walk from the centre of town. Nice enough park which was obviously well cared for by the owners and they intended to keep it that way: there were little instructional signs and rules posted everywhere. If/when in the area again we would probably find somewhere away from town and drive in.

We did this route this Summer. I second Lo Lo Mai outside Sedona. It is a little steep going in but nice park by creek. We stayed overnight at USA RV park in Albuquerque. Ok park for overnight but I would check out maybe American RV park for any longer stays. Santa Fe Skies in Santa Fe is an awesome park. Easy drive to town. There can be winds so watch your awnings.

We liked American in Albuquerque as well. They had a nice breakfast in the morning. We didn't have time to eat, but the coffee was good. Pat

Stayed in KOAs in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque last summer and would definitely go back. Albuquerque KOA is close to downtown and Interstate. Santa Fe KOA is outside of town on Interstate. Santa Fe KOA did not have a pool.

In the spirit of avoiding the interstates, you might want to look at route 50.
It's a little south of Sedona and Albuquerque and makes for a nice drive. Stop in at pie town for a slice, check out the V L A.

Hi from AZ. . . the road thru Pietown is actually US 60. Pie-O-Neer has great pies. . . Also nearby is the VLA which is worth a brief visit. . 60 goes to & thru PHX, a pretty drive, IMO.. . .. Regards, Craig

Thanks for the correction Craig, knew I should have checked the map before posting.
60 is a fun way to go!
The staff at the Pie O neer, a very spirited bunch of women really add to the experience.
Cheers Richard

Rancho Sedona is the closest intown location and very nice for thta reason. Santa Fe Skies is also the easiest access park to Santa Fe with direct shot up Cerrillos or just down the interstate from St. Francis Dr. These are my choices when stying in both locations.

I have heard approaching Sedona from the north can be treacherous if you get on the wrong road which has dangerous switch backs and trailer size limits. Is this true? Did you approach from the north? If so, which way did you go to safely reach Rancho Sedona?

89A can be brutal, not so much from the north as from the South. I blundered onto 89A from the south towing a substantial 5th wheel and had a terrifying trip of it. On the bright side it made all to the back woods trails to and from Alaska seem like a cake walk.

If you go on I-40, take I-17 in Flagstaff south and 179 back north into Sedona. Little longer but faster by avoiding all of the hairpin curves. After unhooking, drive 89 north, really pretty.

Hi again from AZ. . . From the North, you can take I-17 S to SR 179, then back North into Sedona. . .easy-peasy. . . Regards, Craig

It is twisty-turny. Didn't know that they didn't want RVs on it and don't recall seeing any signs about it. We came out just fine with our 30'vintage; didn't feel any more stress than our local pass into Angel Fire causes. As usual, take your time and keep your speed in check with your transmission.

Rancho RV park in Sedona is a very clean park and you pay for it. Also you are at their mercy as to what site you get. We made reservations months in advance and planned on staying a long time while house hunting. The site they put us in was what I call a small parking lot one (they do have bigger sites) that was not what we asked for especially since we were going to be staying a long time. After a few days telling them numerous times how upset we were and getting no where, we moved to Thousand Trails in Cottonwood for the remainder of our stay. About 1/3 the cost and much better sites with amenities!
I enjoy curvy switch back roads and thought 89A was fun to drive , even with the trailer in tow. Now if towing something much bigger than ours, it might turn those knuckles white
